Anyone see the new release from Asi Wind over at Dan and Dave’s?
http://shop.dananddave.com/triumph-and-triumph-again.html Look’s pretty great. Anyone pick this up? I’ve definitely been enjoying his releases lately so I am sure this one is just as good as the others.

I have the gimmicked version of this from Alakazam. The name of the effect escapes me now. A very powerful outcome as far as specs are concerned. Not sure how difficult this version might be.

Asi Wind didn't go over the explanation in his lecture, he did this as a cloer to his lecture at Magic-Con. it's a beautiful effect. Nice to see Jason Alexander and John Lovick loving the effect.

I wonder if Asi's version is gimmicked or uses a normal deck?

Is there a full demo somewhere ? Because it is not very clear to me what is happening in the demo from Dan & Dave website.

Dorian, there are actually two versions of the effect.
The first version of the effect is that two cards are taken - one is remembered, and the other is put under the card box. The cards are shuffled face up and face down, and when they are spread, all the cards of one suit are shown to be the only cards face up, and in order. The one card missing is the one under the box. The cards are shuffled again and squared up, and this time, another suit is face up in order shuffled throughout the deck, again with one card missing. The thought of card is named to be the missing card, and the card under the card box changes into that card. My explanation is not the best, but hopefully you get the idea. The second is more of an idea with the first face up cards being the wrong suit and then changing to match the selection. The trick is pretty nice - obviously it requires an extensive setup, but the handling isn't beyond any intermediate card handler, and the effect is quite nice. I'm not sure if I will use this or Joshua Jay's Trumped Triumph more, but I like both effects and will be using both on occasion. |

Sounds like I might need to check this out. As long as it uses a normal deck I don't mind a setup that is involved.

I like it, it looks like an immediately repeatable version of John Bannon's Play It Straight Triumph. As Jason Alexander mentioned, it was that second reveal that really played tricks on the (magician's) mind. Just wondering out loud, if doing it again is stronger for the lay audience though.

How hard is this effect to perform?

I love it. But I don't love the setup or the need for the FSs. Unless you're a pro with them.. You're looking at a frustrating performance. I loved his double exposure and how easily I could set it up even with a borrowed deck. I feel like for this one I'd need a deck switch.

Does everything come with the download, or are the other methods that also need to be learned?

So thread stopped pretty fast - normally meaning that the trick isn’t practical and didn’t stir up great reviews. However, with Asi Wind effects you would expect it to get more reviews.. So can we get a review from some who actually bought the effect, practized it, and use it in performance situations. How does it play on a lay audience?

@Vraagaard I can tell you that this is brilliant. I prefer version 2 because it has the "oh no It didn't work" element and when you change the suit the audience is BLOWN AWAY because it is really inconceivable. I have never been disappointed by Asi Wind. There is just one move that is abit finicky but I use my own handling and managed to overcome the issue. Overall... one of my favourite effects to perform

Got it - will try it out at an upcoming magicians gathering next Saturday. The routine is well structured easy to follow from the spectator point of view, and relatively easy to execute from a magicians point of view. So I guess this will play very well - especially from a lay audience perspective.
Nice job from Asi Wind. |
