It seems the invisible deck theme has enjoyed a resurgence of popularity lately. Many, many new variations on it abound. But Chris Dugdale has come up with a totally new angle on this, by taking something that millions of people love, their dog, and putting it into a card trick.
Thus, the name, "Doggy Style" Here is a description of the effect: Ask a spectator to name any breed of dog. It could be a breed they like, or a breed they dislike. A friend's dog. A neighbor's dog. A dog they had when they were a kid. ANY dog. They name the breed out loud, so there can be no mistake later. Now remove a deck of doggy cards from it's box. slowly spread the deck between your hands. There is one card, and only one card face down. Slowly and fairly remove the card from the deck and place it on the spectator's hand face down. There are no switches or sleight of hand. No funny business at all. The spectator turns the card over, and you guessed it. The picture of the dog on the card exactly matches the one they named just a moment ago. It's amazing. Plain and simple Let me say this: Most people can't help but like this trick. Their are millions of dog lovers out there, and each and every one of them is a potential target of entertainment for this effect. And, yes, for those who hate our canine friends, that works too, because they are allowed in the begining to name a dog they love or hate. The choice is theirs. Free choice, and no force of any kind. Now here's something to consider: their are literally hundreds of breeds of poochies in the world. I know, because I did some research and purchased a magazine on the subject which contained an enormously long list. So then, the aspect of the trick that they are allowed to name any dog is really quite a startling proposition in and of itself. This is where the trick starts to become inconceivable. You should know that only the most popularly named dogs are included in the deck, (Else-wise, the deck would be three feet high!), but on the occasion that someone names a dog that is not in the deck, Chris gives you a couple of outs to cover yourself, so you will not be left with "egg on your face" You can always end the trick succesfully. This trick can be as simple or as difficult as you wish, because he also gives you two way to perform it, one involving a memorization process, and the other using a clever "cheat card" that only you know about. The instructions are a little long, but only because Chris goes into great detail about the memorization system that he has created. As I said, you can, if you wish, dispense with the memory part and totally rely on the card. It's really up to you, although I'd say the preferable method would to have everything memorized. Once you know what doggy is named, you can find it and reveal it easily. If you have ever worked a memorized deck, you can do this effect. This trick has natural appeal, is not difficult, and will blow standaard memorized deck out of the water. Reason I say that is this: Playing cards most people can think "Well, one in fifty two. He probably beat the odds." But when they name any dog breed and you nail it, well, that is in another league. The impact is magnified, because as Chris notes:" In the mind of the spectator, they are no longer limited by the battle ground of 52 purely defined objects, as they are when a playing card is requested". I think Chris came up with a brilliant concept here, and made it commercial and appealing to the masses. This is a very good effect, and rates **** doggy biscuits. You can purchase it from Hank Lee for $24.95, and you will find it in his current catalog on page 174.

Just look on this site between the columns and you will see his banner....just click on. Go to the section of his site that says "Hank Lee Hot Stuff" Or you can go directly there by typing in http://www.magicfact.com. He is also a user on this forum, and I think that is a very good idea for him, since people mention him alot. I have been a customer of his for about 25 years or so, and was probably one of his very first back when he opened up. He has literally tons of stuff to offer, and his catalog is top o' the line.
