However, I would recommend you contact Steve - he sells a lecture DVD that covers many of his effects, including this one, and his teaching is great.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I see that this is now online at MJM Magic:
http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/-p-19760.html Anyone else get it yet? I have my order in but it looks like I won't get mine until Monday. Why does the weekend always seem longer when you're waiting for a package in the mail? |

Hi. I am wondering if any of the principles here could be used with a playing card. Specifically, I'm wondering if the punch gimmick can be used to pretend to punch a hole in a playing card (for a moving hole routine). I am tired of carrying a clunky hole punch with a less than desirable way to make the hole punch sound without punching a hole.

However, I like the look of the very portable hole punch that comes with this effect. I'm just wondering if it is a gimmicked hole punch or if it allows you to make the sound of punching a hole without actually punching the hole as you do with the large clunky hole punchers. KJ |

I ordered this and received it. I'm not sure what to think. It is a very good trick, but I was looking for something else. I'm afraid to even try this with a playing card for fear I might damage the plastic hole punch. I think I'm back to square one.

Without giving away the effect, I think people should be aware that this hole punch is not designed to punch through too many layers of paper.

My punch goes through a playing card. Wouldn't want to try it on anything thicker though.
I've had mine since card-shark first released this a couple of years ago. My punch is red - not sure if it's the same one that's still supplied? |

I purchased Steve Dusheck’s original Dollar Punch back in the late 70's – in fact I still have it. Personally I thought it was a "cute" effect, nothing really special, but it ALWAYS got a big reaction from my audiences (including fellow magicians). I remember that was one of the first effects that taught me that as magicians it’s sometimes difficult for us to see things the way our spectators do!
The new DPII is basically the same effect but Steve had some subtleties that don't show up in the demo. If you can get the original it's worth it. |
