Hello Everyone!
I wonder if you can help me? I currently do a routine which I love and it uses a kind of stack. Specifically the top 21 cards are the top 21 cards of my memorised deck but in any order and the remainder of the deck doesn't matter. I am very proficient at the Green angle separation and use it all of the time to split red and black cards. I really struggle to cull the top 21 cards of my stack as I don't recognise them when I see them (I seem to only be able to think about 5 cards ahead). I am wondering if anyone knows of a stack of cards which appears to have a random set from each suit but which is really easy to recognise at a glance (like red/black or odd/even) so that when trying to cull it is really easy to spot the correct cards. The only thing that matters with my stack is that it is between 15 - 25 cards, each suit has a different number of cards within the total set and it appears random at a glance. Thanks in advance for any help! Sam |

Thanks Dorian,
Unfortunately I don't know what you mean. I presume Isis is something I should know? |

If you take your current stack and deal through it a couple of times putting the 1-21 cards in one pile and the rest in another, you will gradually pick up speed and should be pretty quick after 5 or 10 times. Another option would be to mark those cards either on the front or back or both.

Isis is a great memorized deck, it's the one I use now for many reasons. Might not be optimal for english speakers, but for me it is a wonderful stack.

Dorian - I can't find any information about ISIS, nor can I read French!
Out of curiosity can you share any details about the stack? What makes it great? I understand if you can't answer this... but I have to ask: What are the particular properties that makes 16 - 41 easy to recognise during a cull? nlokers - I've used a marking system on the front, scratching the index of all the cards I want to cull. This works really well, but I'd love to be able to do it impromptu. You are probably right, I should spend some time developing a memory for the cards I want to cull. Currently I only recognise them in order but it probably won't take too much work to memorise them in any order. I guess I was looking for a short cut. |

Sjrw, ISIS is for the moment only in french, that's why. Without revelaing too much, it's a very versatile stack, allowing to do several types of effects. It has got the advantages of Aronson stack for cheating demonstrations, advantages of Mnemonica stack for stay stack properties and "big finish" with NDO, the advantages of Rix stack for spelling effects, and Si Stebbins advantages for mental magic (force a number, etc.). The stack is also not "obvious" when looking at the deck, like there is not RBRBRBRBRBR alternation for instance, it's quite "random".
Cards 16-41 are easily recognizable because of some specificity of the stack, can't say too much here
