Hey I was looking to get into dove magic but I don't know what to buy and how the things work. So if someone could give me a list of all the things I would need and how the things work. And I also have another question. Where during a performance are the doves stored and how does the magician make them appear? If anyone could help me that would be great!

Well, first of all, your question has been asked and answered many times. In fact, one topic below your question is the most recent one.
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=13 Secondly, noone here is going to explain how things work as that would be exposure. Neither is anyone going to tell you how to make the doves appear. At the top of this forum is a sticky topic listing a huge index of books and DVDS that should be purchased before you think about geting into Dove magic.

The most important thing to learn is not where the doves are stored during a performance, but where and how they are kept when they are not performing. The first thing you need to learn is how to care for the doves! Once you have an understanding of what it takes to be a good dove owner you can decide if you are willing to invest the time, money and work that owning doves require. If you are, then you can take the next step and begin learning dove magic.

Regan is on target. The doves become part of the family for many years. (Most of mine are at least 16 years old!)
Having been raised as a cowboy, I guess I believe in taking care of the horse that got you here. Lucy and I live on Magic Valley Ranch with our horses, doves and other animals. Doves deserve respect too. The world will be watching how you treat them. If you do not plan to keep the doves as pets, choose another route in magic. |

I used doves for almost 30 years, on the road. Two doves "gave" me eight minutes of entertainment. They were well worth the care I gave them.
As Bob said above, the cowboy takes card of his horse first! It's the same with doves--or any other live stock! Read Regan's post AGAIN! The sign up top says "'Magicians helping magicians" That does not mean that they will build an act for you!!! No one here CAN or WILL T E A C H you anything. They/We can only help you learn. We will offer advice and encouragement. YOU must do the learning, and the work, to develop an act or a show. T A N S T A F L!!! (There Aint No Such Thing As Free Lunch!!!)

Am I the only one that smells a rat in the dove forum?
The original post is sophomoric at best, and most likely a troll chumming the waters. "Hey I was looking to get into dove magic but I don't know what to buy and how the things work." Seriously??? This guy has 3 posts and has not been on here in almost 3 months. Think troll and don't waste your time, folks.

I was thinking the same thing when I read this Michael. Anyone looking for answers is going to do their homework first, and then come to the pros with specific questions. One wonders if he will return to defend his honor...

I would appreciate it if he did. I might be inclined to change my opinion. As it stands, it smacks of a troll. I've been here a long time, and even little kids rarely post things phrased that naively. It sounds more like an adult trying to imitate one to stir the pot here for no better reason than their own entertainment. I hope I'm wrong.
