Does anyone know who the first one was to release a gimmick utilizing elastic thread? So far my research has pointed to Mark Mason, but I wanted to see if it was used before his SAS gimmick

Your question isn't specific enough to write a decent reply. If you mean IET, it might be Finn John. If you mean elastic cord then who knows.

Possibly Elmsley's Rising Card or Ben Harris put out a card with IET, but as MRSharpe mentioned, the question is pretty non-specific.
