There is no shortage of songs with off-pitch singing. Most of the time it's because the singer is of minimal talent. Sometimes great songs work in spite of weak singing--Neil Young, Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan come to mind.
Sometimes, however, the off-pitch singing just MAKES the song. This came to mind in the car yesterday, singing along (?) to Led Zeppelin's Battle of Evermore. Don't know if it was deliberate, but if they actually hit the notes, I'm sure the song wouldn't be half as good. What are your favourite "off pitch makes it greater" songs?
