Hi all,
I collect, or have collected in the past, many many odd things. From Hot Wheels cars, dice, zippo lighters, rubber bats, bad velvet paintings, guitar picks, and now decks of cards. I was just wondering what you all collect? And why? -Reis |

Pocket knives with silver or nickel end caps. First edition comic books. Puppet Master toys and movie collectables (yes I own one of the rare, coveted Blade statues) Antique kitchenware and gray enamelware.
Magic Prop manufacturing mistakes. (Sometimes it’s hard to tell if the props are mistakes or just junk props) Sea shells from all of my vacations in Maui. This last year, I just started collecting extremely dangerous toys that are marketed to children. These run into all sorts of categories from a tiny camera that shoot flames into your hair, to mini switchblades and stilettos, Cap guns with open barrels so whatever you put in them gets shot out, and various other deadly toys. One of my favorites finds is a small metal Dumbo the Elephant that is also a mini switchblade.

I liked hearing what others had to collect.
Here's my list although it sounds boring compared to you both. When I was a kid it was glass animals, all shapes and sizes that I kept on mirrors. Then I graduated to collecting dolls from around the world. Next it was keychains, all chained together and kept in my large purse, Then letters which I kept in fancy boxes, some date back as far as childhood. The latter is great for reminicing about things that happened in childhood, like camp days, childhood friends, interest, ect. Clothes became my next passion, antique dolls and then old books. Most of my collections remain at my mom's house to someday collect I suppose. The only thing which I currently have that resembles a collection are antique toys and my pets. Why? I fostered for the Humane Society but ended up adopting all the animals I brought into my home. I have so many pets now it's a collection - all shapes, ages and sizes. I'm not looking for any more but if one should happen to show up on my doorstep...I'll think hmm what's one more? I'm not sure what psychologist say about the reason we collect things. I just know with so many pets I have no stress. |

I collect anything that is unusual but my two primary collections are beer bottles/cans and buttons or pins as some call them, the type with logos or funny pictures/sayings. Just a very short list of some of the more unusual items I have are:
Kangaroo Scrotum Pouch Racoon *** Bones (3) Cane Toad Purse Urine Marker (used in N.Y. to mark where the horses go for the sanitation dept. to sanitize) 70 million year old mite encased in amber (very cool) Tooth from a Spinosaurus Iven

Golly, I forgot my most important collection. Old-Time Radio Shows. Andini just reminded me of that fact. My collection of radio shows is getting larger every week. I just can't get enough of those great old time shows.

I collect original motion picture soundtracks, or scores to be more specific-music that is composed for the film. I got about 350 cd´s at this point.
DVD´s, mostly movies, but some documentaries and concerts of GREAT artists (like Cher & Sarah Brightman). Star Wars stuff. So far I got a few lightsabers-actual metal 100% accurate props and a complete Darth Vader costume, which also is 100% accurate with fibreglass helmet and all. Money. I have a thing called "bank account" but it must leak somehow as money disappears from it and it never gets full...

I'm autistic so I've had all sorts of things that I've collected over the years. From carbon-paper to empty boxes. As with most autistics, empty boxes are the main bone of contention. Somehow 'normal' people just don't understand the need to store hundreds of emty boxes that 'might be needed' one day.

I must collect something, because my house is so full of useless stuff.

I keep my bone of contention in a box.
And had to develop a 'cleaning frenzy' mode to manage to keep the place clean. Allergies can motivate too. I collect ideas.

Hello,
I find myself buying cool pens all the time, so I would say I collect those. I also build model cars and once completed put them on a shelf in my room. I also like to collect money. EDIT: Dang I thought that was original when I posted this, and then I read the rest of the posts and someone already said money...oh well. TJ |
