I have a set of brass cups, and whenever I polish them they look amazing. But after a couple of days they will tarnish, and I'll have to polish again. Is there a way to keep them from tarnishing?

Use Brasso to polish them, it leave a light coating on the metal to slow the tarnish. I'm surprised you have to polish them as most cups come with a coating that retards tarnishing.
You may have high acid content in your skin. If handling them causes them to tarnish where you touch them, then it is your body fluids that is causing this problem for you. You can paint the cups to keep them like new forever. I coated mine with Krylon plastic spray. Just polish them, then wear gloves and clean them with lacquer thinner. Make a "jig" so you can spin the cup on an axis. Slowly spin the cup and spray parallel to the cup's surface. If you are not familiar with spray painting, practice on something 1st. I polished the inside as well and painted that as well. You can also use clear lacquer as well, but I found it has a tint to it. The plastic clear paint is totally clear. Never have to polish ever again. My cups is going on 34 years looking like new. Hope this helps answer your question. |

Use Flitz. It cleans and also puts a coating the protects the finish.
