What do you guys feel is the best bill switch to do 360 degrees fully surrounded?

Not wise to do any fully surrounded, in my opinion. Not sure what your circumstances are but you might do well to find another effect if you will be surrounded 360 deg.

Ok because I've seen people on the Café say they've done it before

The bill will have to be held close
to the chest the whole time. Todd |

Frankie, I'm not saying it can't be done, but I don’t think it would be too entertaining for those behind you if it's kept close to the chest!
Seriously though, I don’t know of any bill switches that are completely angle proof myself. Jim |

How small do you fold the bill and do you dispense with the TT?
I use Sam Sandler's " Illusion of Fusion", changing two dollar bills into one $2. For surrounded work, I use four folds instead of three so the folded notes are hidden by my thumb. Using two notes also allows you a lot of cover. In two years, I've never been caught. Contact Sam via a PM and he'll sell you a dvd of his close-up routine etc.

TMA, I use Michael Ammar's "2 Dollar Bill Tear" which sounds similar: a $2 bill is "torn" into two $1 bills and then restored.
Personally I don’t use a TT for my bill switches. Did at first but found I prefer to go tipless. With regard to folds, I do both 3 and 4-fold routines. 4-folds makes the folded bill easy to conceal, but then again I wonder how easy to conceal it looks to spectators also! 3-fold routines are a little tougher - you have to be more careful with the folded bill - but they do seem to look a bit more magical to a lot of spectators IME. There are switches in the big book that are done with the spec looking down while you do the bill sw'.
I think Ammar has one but I'll need to check. So these switches can be done surrounded unless someone is on the floor looking up |

There are some switches that can work surrounded (with conditions). They use another object for temporary cover:
Bold Switch (from Ron Jaxon of the Café), the see Art of Astonishment's: Hot Chocolate, License to Thrill, and Counterfeit Spectator. There is a switch that is part of the demo of "Stretch a Buck" that is similar.

Just purchase the Magnetic Card case / Box, or if you like, one of the nice wood products boxes on the market. They cost more but look nice. Having said that it is a plastic world today. These boxes will allow you to have the spectator place a folded bill in the box and close the box. They can open the box, and it is changed to any denomination you can afford. This is a sure fire totally surrounded method for those that want to not do any misdirection or learn how to perform sleight of hand magic. No worry about having to do anything on the magicians part. Don't even have to remember which side is up, or have to turn anything over. This is the best way to go, so all your attention can be on your presentation and charm. |

I've seen a switch where the plane of the bill was horizontal, rather than vertical, making it work when surrounded. I don't recall who was performing it.
I also recall the use of "crossing the gaze" being used with a bill, on Chad Long's "Scratch" DVD. The details make it worth buying. |

What do you guys think about the 4 quarters switch by magic balay ( I think that's who its by)? I've heard its the best for angles.

Magick Balay's handling is the only one I use now. I've gone through Lovicks book "switch" which was good but ended up going with 4 quarters by Balay. Super fast and clean handling. No pre folding necessary. Best bill switch ever created in my opinion. Doesn't even look like you use a TT

Thanks I have the DVD Somewhere but didn't really try to learn it. I'll have to go find it and learn it now!
