Does anyone have a link to a performance video of this routine?

Perhaps with the opening of Cuba there will be many opportunities for cigar magic --

at least as story to tell.

Funsway--cigars from other countries have always been available. The decline in cigar and cigarette magic is most likely the result of better health awareness and "anti smoking in public" laws. The Surgeon General's warnings eventually did make a dent.

Of course -- my point is that the availability of Cuba cigars can provide a story line that makes sense to the audience --

even that these are magical and the real reason they were banned.

What prop does Carney use at the very beginning? I saw another magician recently do it, but I don't know the name of the gimmick.

Very deceptive cigar act!!

If you are inquiring about the ball from board with hole in it, John Carney does not use a gimmick, it is all sleight of hand magic. It is his signature piece and I do not believe he has revealed it yet, but I am not up on all of Carney's released material.

John Carney doesn't have to reveal it...the effect is Jerry Andrus' "Zone Zero".
