To put it another way, the most recent Benghazi report was at best a finding of "Not Guilty," not a finding of "Innocent." Notwithstanding that, excerpted and annotated for your convenience:
On Saturday, September 4th, 2012, Deputy National Security Advisor, Ben Rhodes, wrote in an email titled "PREP CALL with Susan: Saturday at 4:00 ET that one of the goals of the Administration public statements should be "To underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video [(b)They weren't(/b), and not a broader failure of policy." Whatever the larger policy issues [(b)e.g. securing the reelection of the president(/b)], the conclusion that the "protests" were "fully rooted in a video" was incorrect, as were the underlying, early intelligence estimates concerning the video. Once the video footage became available on September 18, 2012 [(b)Remember this date; we'll get back to it. Hint: It's about six weeks before the election.(/b)], two days after Ambassador Rice spoke, and FBI reporting from interviews with U.S. officials on the ground began to be published on September 22, 2012, CIA changed its judgment (b)and made it clear(/b) in a WIRe that ran on September 24th [(b)That's another good date to remember; again, we're about 5 1/2 weeks in front of the election still (/b)] that CIA now assessed that no protest had occurred outside the TMF. The FBI reports were the first formally reported indications that a protest did not occur in Benghazi. Accordingly, Ambassador Rice's November 27, 2012, [(b)still watching the dates?(/b)] comments following her meeting with Acting CIA Director Morell, Senator McCain, Senator Graham, and Senator Ayotte, acknowledged that the conclusion was incorrect. Following that meeting, she told reporters: 'In the course of the meeting, we explained that the talking points provided by the intelligence community, and the initial assessment upon which they were based were incorrect in a key respect: there was no protest or demonstration in Benghazi.' So, the administration rushed to get out an inaccurate statement that put the administration in the best possible light by selectively choosing from conflicting evidence that which supported their narrative (some TMC members consider that a major no-no when discussing, e.g. the decision to invade Iraq), then waited TWO MONTHS (conveniently until shortly after the election) after it was "clear" that their narrative was incorrect to correct the misperception that had been created. That's from the main report. Appendix One, which is fairly self-explanatory, was signed onto by four committee members including the chairman, and is left to the reader. Of particular interest may be the finding that "Senior U.S. officials perpetuated an inaccurate story that matched the Administration's misguided view that the United States was nearing a victory over al-Qa'ida." So, speaking of "talking points," let's not pretend that this most recent report somehow clears the Administration of any wrongdoing.

Isn't it all about cherry picking a few words that either further your own viewpoint or discredit the other and ignoring all others?

Aces- and by your own admission, Bush stated that major combat operations were ending while he stood in front of a "mission accomplished" banner. (It's what's called a "photo-op.") Everyone knew what that combination was meant to convey. (Until they suddenly got amnesia when the pointless and fraudulent war escalated.)
PS- You don't irk me in the least. Actually, you amuse me, just as I'm sure I amuse you. |

“What do you think of the third world?” asked the reporter “I don’t believe it exists!” my wife replied.
Mind you I had to agree.

Great day to be at the game, nice temperature but a bad outcome for us Eagles Fans. I dread tomorrow morning's phone harassment from friends. My cell phone is already full of messages. I think I will just hit DELETE ALL.

What a tough game for the Eagles.
My wife came to America and first place she lived was near Philly. We have been in the Dominican Republic since early November. Got to watch the thanksgiving game and it rocked. I thought in their own nest they would tear the Cowboys up! We are an hour ahead of ESTABLISHED here so I went and did my show and only got to see the second half. As said not a good outcome for eagles fans at all.

Are we allowed to expand this motif slightly to include radio?
Today I heard an ad for Mini Cooper that described it as having a . . . wait for it . . . twin-powered turbo engine. (I wonder which twins power the turbo engine. I was thinking, perhaps, Ann Landers and Abigail Van Buren, but as they're both dead it seemed unlikely. Maybe the Barbi twins.) |
