I'm a foreigner living in England (well, I'm Welsh and on a clear day I can just see the coastline of the old country across the water!). I'm a writer and occasional broadcaster - mainly computer magazines these days, but I've dabbled in all kinds of things.

Magical interests: visual magic (the great illusions), mental magic and magic in literature (e.g. Clayton Rawson and the Golden Age of detective fiction).

Very much a beginner in magic so I'll no doubt be pestering you for help and advice shortly.

Thanks for the welcome. I have to admit I've been lurking around a few magic places on the Net for a while trying to work out where the natives are friendly - I soon decided that this is a good place!

Fear not, folks I shall be pestering away on a regular basis. Thanks for your helpful comments, Peter. It's good to know I don't seem as much of a magical idiot as I feel!

Hello Professor!
I live in the far dim reaches of the wilds of North Devon - when you reach the middle of nowehere, just turn left and keep on going...

The nearest village (a couple of miles away) is Hartland, the nearest towns are Bideford (Devon) and Bude (Cornwall). A beautiful place if (as I do) you like the peace and quiet of the countryside.

Not a very active magical community around here - but, my word, the local rabbit population is mightily impressed by my sleight of carrot!
