Years ago I had a gimmick which I believe was called a Swami Gimmick (although I realize that is a common term for a nail writer) that had a small mirror in the card (which was about 7 cards thick) that would slide out so that you could peek at a card as it was chosen. Anyone familiar with this and or can tell me where to find another one? Smile

Sounds like Chuck Leach's The Card Swami. Highly doubtful that you will find one today.

This is similar, and, will accomplish the same thing...Bob Solari's Omega Gimmick.

Nathan Kranzo has his "Grumble Glim" which is similar, but uses the box not cards, so your deck is clean.

You can get a peek at the work here:

An alternate approach that you may consider is to get some Mylar Tape or Foil Tape and place a piece on the back of a Joker or the extra advertising card in the deck and then wring it in and out as needed for glimpsing cards. You may be able to shop these in a local store to compare levels of reflectivity and widths.

Here is one example on Amazon:

Happy experimenting!

CIA by Magick Balay includes custom-made Mylar shiners for applying to card boxes & backs, as well as extra material you can cut to size according to your needs, plus teaches several routines.

Todd Lassen has coins on his blog that are a coin on one side and a shiner in the other. Very nice Smile
Also Card-Shark has a Sherpa pen on his site (limited run) "Chrome" that can be set down on the table and used as a shiner. I recently bought one and they do work.

My question is WHY do we need a device? Isn't it easy enough to use a sleight?
