Yet another highly hyped magic item that is coming out with a version 2.0 within weeks of it's release.
I'm doing great with my self-imposed no pre-orders. It's getting to the point where I'm close to imposing a no ordering until at least version 2.0. Lately, it seems like it's fairly common to have a version 2 come out for something. Sometimes, very quickly after the release, sometimes a little while later. I don't feel like we should have to pay for the privilege of being beta testers. |

You don't have to.
Every car, microwave oven, TV, and potato peeler that come out goes through changes. A creator makes one off version at home and tests it and then he has to go through a process to mass manufacture. There are many decisions along the way. Some people are early adopters. They like getting the product before any one else. Other people are more patient. |

Microsoft is the world's best as they put out their product and let the world tell them what's wrong with it or how it can be improved. It's called marketing.
"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "

My cell phone was obsolete the day I bought it. It still does everything it did before the newer better version came out and by the time I upgrade again, the same thing will happen. A vehicle depreciates the second you drive it off the lot and a newer better version will be out in months. Why should magic be any different?
When a product is released, often it is the best the creator had come up with. Suddenly, the masses have it and add - "it should have this" or "why can't you add that?" or maybe it is more fragile to the average Joe than the creator who "knows" its limitations. Thus, improvements are made based on feedback and further thinking after real world testing by many.

Quality of an effect just dreamed up and shown to a few friends before release is going to be dramatically different than the quality of an effect dreamed up and used over and over for years in shows before release.
The latter will be refined and developed by its creator, rather than by its customers. For the former, the customers aren't unpaid beta testers -- they PAY TO BE beta-testers. |

In fairness; you create an effect and work it and then share it with say 5 trusted friends. No doubt some refinement occurs after this and then the thing is released. Ince released; lets say; 500 people use it and invariably some of those people will have good ideas.
Personally I don't mind 2.0 as ling as 1.0 was good to start. Its when 1.0 is garbage that I get annoyed. |

Some creators will put out 2.0 as the first version in the hope you won't realize.

It's good to develop from 1.0 to 2.0 like melt
but the problem here if 1.0 is not practical in any way |
