I try to read at least one book every month. Some of the most successful people in the world read one book every week. Books are a great to way gain knowledge from the experience of other successful people.
In my latest video blog I share my five favorite books I read in the last twelve months. These aren’t my favorite of all time, but my favorite from the past year. Choose to read one or all three, apply the ideas that are shared, and reap the rewards in your business and your life. I was an avid reader until my eyesight got worse, I have an eBook reader for things I really want to read, I can make the font bigger. But its just a chore reading anything now. I much prefer having a book in hand than an e reader. Books will never go out of fashion.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

Lou - thanks for the post. I was intrigued by your recommendation on the book 10 X. I just watched this interview of the author, Grant Cardone http://eventualmillionaire.com/grant-cardone/
I had not heard of him before. The audio quality was poor, but I liked some of what he shared. He definitely got me thinking. Thanks again. |

Charliecheckers,
Thanks for posting that link. I just watched the whole thing. Everything he talked about in that interview is in his book, The 10X Rule, but I just got some new insight into some of the strategies, some of which I'll be implementing IMMEDIATELY! For one, I need more HATERS! Haha! It's funny to me to think that I actually do have haters out there. People who don't like me for various reasons, and all these people are people who have never even met me. It tells me I'm doing something right. Some of these haters have helped me sell a lot more product by bringing much more attention to my business and products than I would've received if they had just left me alone. This year I've set my goals 10 times higher, putting in 10 times more effort, and I'm sure I'll get 10 times the haters. Gotta love it! There were so many great points in this interview that if people actually implemented them, they'd see far bigger results than what they've achieved so far in their lives and businesses. If I had to choose just one book to read out of the five that I listed, it would be The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone without question. Wishing you all much success! Lou Serrano |

I wasn't particularly intrigued with 10X. Don't get me wrong; I think the points were solid, and I agree with them 100%. I just think the book was boring. As such, it took me quite a while to get through. I thnk it might have had to do with the fact that he wasn't telling me anything new. I've read quite a few business books, and I think after a while you've just heard it all already lol. Maybe it was just me. I've gone numb :p

Ha! "Haters" - Yeah Babe'! - I gotsta' getz me some new haters yo'... all my old ones are now all fans! (Hehehe!)
I wrote about this yet again in another short share: "**** Off Your Way To Success!" https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/piss-off-......rof-post I also agree with brother Mike... "10X", though solid, was hard to get through the same old stuff, but in a less interesting way. -- Hey, I agree we all need rock solid reminders of what works and the basics including the foundations, but I prefer a better read as well. Oh well... here come the haters now! Want a KILLER MUST READ? => "Delivering Happiness!" The Path To Profits, Passion & Purpose! by Tony Hsieh (The Founder of Zappos.com) Hope That Adds... To paraphrase a quote from Gunnery Sergeant Hartman from "Full Metal Jacket"...
"If there were no haters, there would be no favoritism in this world!" Ha! :p As far as the kind of read 10X is, I think it just depends on where you're coming from in terms of experience and knowledge. If I was new to most of the concepts discussed in the book, I would probably be a lot more fired up! As agreed, the content is definitely solid though! I'd still use it as a reference to poke through now and then

Dean and Mike,
My experience was different than yours. I read The 10X Rule in about 6 hours. I found it to be an easy read, and I found it to be incredibly inspiring and motivating. Just in case anyone thinks that these concepts are new to me, I should clarify that I've literally read hundreds of books on personal development over the last 20 years. When you really think about it, there's nothing new under the sun. You can just reread Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and you'll have all the info you need to be the success you want to be. So why read another book? To be reminded of the principles. To be inspired by the trials and tribulations of others. To see things in a new light. I often tell my coaching clients that knowledge in and of itself is completely useless. It's only the implementation of that knowledge that creates something of value. I read the book. It inspired me to take massive action in my life, and I'm seeing the results of my hard work. To read it, and put it on my bookshelf without letting it inspire me to action would've been a waste of my time. Jim Rohn would call this a Mystery Of The Mind. Why do some people read a book and see it as the same old thing while others read the same book and have their lives transformed? There's no sense in trying to figure it out. It's just a Mystery Of The Mind. Wishing you both continued success! Lou Serrano |

I totally agree with you, Lou! I will admit that although I found it to be the same old read, I was inspired by his message and it did make me think of things a bit differently. There's always something to take away from what you learn...even if you're learning the same thing all over again How many times do we read or watch something, and come away with something we didn't grasp the last time? Happens all the time.

I'm a million percent with ya'... it's like Zig used to say: (Paraphrase...) "Ya' Can't Take A Shower Once and Expect To Stay Clean For The Rest Of Your Life!" You GOTTA' keep immersing yourself in this stuff!
For me, it's the "K.E.Y. & M.A.P." to Success: "Keep Educating Yourself! ...and then M.A.P. it out and GO!" (Massive ACTION Plan!) I did find 10X fairly basic, even rudimentary common sense, BUT you know I'm a BIG Fan of the basics and fundamentals as I said before. - It's how Jordan killed it in the game! Hope That Helps... Common sense. Something that isn't so common!
As Dave Ramsey says, "What I teach people isn't anything special. It's just common sense! But it seems to make me a pretty good living!"

So that's where you got the 10 million dollar goal from!

Leland,
It a 10X goal from my previous goal. I figure if I'm going to put in the effort to read a book where the author shares his secrets of success, then I would be doing myself a disservice by not implementing the ideas that I learned. I should clarify that the 10 million dollar goal has nothing to do with the money, and everything to do with the person I have to become to earn that money. Everything I currently have is a direct result of the person that I am today, but I cannot reach my 10x goal by doing the things I currently do. To reach my goal I have to learn more, do more, become more. It makes for an exciting journey. Lou Serrano |
