Exactly. For some reason he doesn't understand that what he perceives as fact is simply his own belief or faith. He has not offered any proof to support his assertion that God doesn't exist. That's because there is no such proof. Therefore his statement is not, by any definition, a fact.
I would add that he doesn't understand the definition of "fact" either.
The obstacle, as I see it, is that, having condemned so many people for having faith, having to admit that you have faith yourself is quite scary. It takes a modicum of courage to do so.

Y'all have a good time discussing gods and what they do and don't do.
I won't bother to write "there are no gods" anymore in response to posts indicating there are.
It appears that it upsets most, and that is not my intention. Wanted to chime in, don't anymore.
I like good feelings, not sure proponents of gods do as well. Signs don't point to it.

I hope it's true and you have a deliciously nutty story to share. He was incredibly famous here for 5 minutes after he was rescued (even though initially there was some scepticism about the story but it did turn out to be true)- and then instantly forgotten - I think I read somewhere a few years ago he is a successful doctor now.
