I've been trying to do this for some time now, and as the box sits on my finger, it is already rubs w. My finger. So that obviously causes friction. What the heck can I do?

Also, move your finger around a bit while the box is spinning... you still need to balance the box yourself to get longer spin times. You can also play with the amount of cards that are in the deck... add or remove a few cards and see if that makes a difference on how it sits on your finger. If your finger is more "fleshy" than most, try spinning the deck more on the side of your finger where it is more stable. I've also found that in more humid conditions, there tends to be more drag. Finally, if you're not spinning the box fast enough, there may be too much wobble and it is simply touching your finger as it "wobbles"... Best of luck... hope something works for you, it certainly is an eye catcher when done right. |

I've got this coming to me in the mail today. I'm very excited to start giving it a whirl :o
Question: What's been the best deck to use with this? I don't have any of the old riderbacks, so I was going to use the new Red Standard to integrate with my ID. Are there any issues with the fact that the Standard back just has text instead of the card design? |

So I have been practicing this for a few days. I have a killer 1 card spin, and probably a 6-7 second box spin. I've been experimenting with various positioning, boxes, placement, amount of cards, etc etc and I think I've found a good combination. Now I just really envy the people with finger callus's. My soft dainty fingers are causing drag keeping me away from the 10+ sec spins.
We will see how long it takes to get there. I'm having lots of fun with it though! |

Update: it took a few weeks but I now have a callus on my left index finger and can get 15-20sec spins. I've started doing tricks with the supplied gafs and my ID to some pretty good results. It is really still addicting and I've been just carrying it around with me and doing spins when I'm out and about.
I will say for a few days my skin was super tender and it was hard to continue on, so for a day or two I was dabbing a dot or two of crazy glue which really let me practice long spins without any pain. After the callus hardened it's really been a night and day difference in how this works. |

Just revisiting. I broke this back out (never practiced it as I should). I'm jealous of you all getting 12+ second spins or more. I'll keep it up, I'm motivated this time with the new fidget spinner craze. My daughter and her friends all have them. I kinda want to do a, "you think that's a spinner? THIS is how a magician does it..." then do the single card spin followed by using the deck and gimmick.
Great timing... Plus I wanna look like a stud. (I gotta fake it.) |
