Hello. I have been viewing some Pavel DVD's and was wanting to ask where I could buy some rope magnets, snap fasteners and card shims. Thanks for the help.

Rope magnets you can purchase from Abbott's Magic.
Snaps you can by from a fabric store. Card Shims are more difficult to locate, try an mechanical engineer supply store. |

I have on occasion used razor blades as shims, not ideal but in an emergency they can be used. Don't forget to dull them first.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

Thanks Guys. I went on Abbott's site and could not see the magnets. Entered "Rope Magnets" in search but they did not come up. I could always give them a call. I have been a loyal customer for over 45 years. Bill, do you attend the Get-Togethers?

I bought my rope magnets from them, but of course they do not lists everything on their website.
I did a search for you and found them at Magic Warehouse: http://themagicwarehouse.com/SP5847/Super-Rope-Magnets.html Standard rope magnets don't fit the large India rope if that is what you are using, they fit the standard magicians rope with the sting inner core. If you are using the India rope, I suggest you get the magnets at Wal-Mart, small silver plug type magnets. I have not been able attend Abbott's get together in several years. I plan to attend this year, I usually only go to the evening shows. |

I find that K&J magnetics are a great answer. I actually have used their magnets for rope and liked it a lot better than the ones designed for magic. It's a little tricky preparing them, but probably not much more than the standard ones.
