Hello Mr. Lorayne,
An issue that constantly arises in the aspiring magicians (such as myself) is whether or not it is ethical to perform other magician's material. On the one hand, I believe we cannot grow unless we closely mimic those we look up to and then understand afterward. On the other hand, it is plain wrong to copy someone elses routines - taking the goods from someone's hard labor. What is your view? What were the intentions of authors when they produced their ideas on mediums such as books, magazines, DVD? Is it okay to blindly copy somebody's routine at any stage? By the way, I'm a great fan of yours and always will be. Sincerely, G |

G: It's "according," isn't it? If you see someone work and steal what he does, that's wrong. But if you use stuff that's been taught in books, of course that's all right. Sure, I'm a bit sorry that I've given many of my things away in books, but - once I do, sure, that's why they're put in books, or on videos/DVDs in the first place. If nobody used the things I've taught I'd be terribly upset and disappointd and, more important, my books wouldn't sell! Go through all the topics, all the posts, and you'll see how many people use my stuff. And most of the people here are new to magic. Multiply them by thousands, if not more, and you'll see how much of my stuff is being used, all over the world. Go into all of "Randy's" posts, and you'll get a general idea. Okay? HARRY.
