I'm hoping to win the one millionth post about wallets and thusly a free one of my choice...
Anyone? No? Moving on. To begin with I promise I've done a good bit of reading and research already, and I have narrowed down my choices a bit. What I'd like is to present you with what I'm looking for, what I've come up with and then either confirmation of my choices or alternate recommendations. First, the qualities I'm looking for: Card to wallet is the primary function I am interested in Out to Lunch built in Must be hip pocket (I carry my wallet in my right butt-pocket, this will not change) Durable (modern wallets seem to run about $100-$175 I want a quality investment for years to come) Daily carry. I already have a "normal" every day wallet, I don't think I will carry this magic wallet on routine daily errands but I want that option. Extras. I understand that modern wallets have multiple extra functions that I haven't mentioned and generally it sounds like the more the merrier. Essentially I require CTW and OTL, anything else is a bonus. The extras that the modern wallets are capable of to me are exciting opportunities to learn about new principles and possibilities (what the heck is an SUC function?). The two wallets I have run across that seem to offer the most potential to me are the F1 Nitro wallet (http://www.murphysmagic.com/Product.aspx?id=48536) and Harry Robsons Workers Dream wallet (http://www.murphysmagic.com/Product.aspx?id=53298) These two seem to offer the most variety and the closest matches to my requirements. I'm willing to trade off OTL for other functionality, but I just don't know how much is too much other stuff. I have to assume there comes a tipping point with wallets like anything else when it goes from doing 4 things really well to doing 27 things poorly. The more you read about wallets the more features you hear about and the harder it becomes to choose. The Espionage wallet, for instance sounds amazing, it sounds like it has an incredible amount of versatility and potential (http://www.murphysmagic.com/Product.aspx?id=49916) Price tag is in the same range, worth it? *edited to add: I work primarily close up magic, in restaurant or bar settings, up to parlor range. My focus is on magic, not really mentalisim, but I am interested in principles of either. So that's where I'm at really. It seems the only cure for wallet issues is to shut up and buy one so I wanted to tell you guys where I'm at, and get some feedback, and make it happen. Appreciate the input. |

For an everyday wallet one thing to consider is whether you carry paper currency, how much you tend to carry and from what country. The F1 Nitro and Worker's Dream are both excellent wallets, but neither can accommodate US bills unless the stack is folded. There's a pocket in the Nitro that fits a folded stack of US bills somewhat better, I think, than the currency flap in the Worker's Dream. If you tend to carry little or no cash this obviously isn't an issue.
The Worker's Dream is one of many approximately 4 inch by 6 inch wallets which are designed for either pants pocket or jacket pocket use. That said, I'm not sure how well a Worker's Dream would hold up under daily use from a rear pants pocket. It's a well-made wallet, but the external peek function possibly wouldn't work as well if the wallet developed a permanent curve from being sat on, and I'm not sure if that would also complicate the CTW function. (I own two, but I've never placed one in a pants pocket.) For a very good CTW plus OTL, the Worker's Dream is definitely a great option. Add US bills and daily rear pants pocket carry and I'm not so certain. I haven't seen the Cerberus Wallet, but that might be a better option: http://mystiquefactory.com/collections/f......-meadows
