I’d like to share my positive experience with, and offer a recommendation for, using the expert yet affordable services of “CardMaker,” e.g custom gaff card maker Bernd Maucksch.
My wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of months, and as my wife and I will be visiting The Magic Castle in LA (for the first time ever) on our special night, I thought it might be nice if I could perform a special trick just for her, right there at our dinner table. But what? I have fond memories of a particular episode of the original Star Trek series ("Charlie X") in which a young man with strange psi powers used those powers to perform a card trick for a female yeoman he had a crush on. He dealt a few random cards, and then used his psi powers to turn the faces of those cards into photos of said yeoman, to impress her. I always thought that would make for a pretty cool trick, even if you could only do it once. With my magic-themed anniversary coming up, I figured I might just have the opportunity to try something along those lines out on my wife. In thinking about precisely what sort of effect or routine to employ, I finally settled upon adopting a variant of the popular "NFW" packet trick. My thought was that, instead of seemingly showing four Jokers and turning them all into four Aces, I would instead seemingly show four silvery "mirror" cards (similar to those used in "Done With Mirrors," but with mirrored faces instead of backs), and turning them all into four cards featuring photos of my wife printed onto their faces. (I'm planning on a "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the fairest one of all?" patter approach.) But where or how to obtain the necessary custom gaff cards? (Obviously VERY custom, since it entailed creating cards featuring photos of my own wife printed upon their surfaces — never mind the additional “mirror” surfaces involved!) I reached out to Bernd (“CardMaker”) to produce for me the needed gaffs. He responded promptly and willingly. I emailed him the necessary photos of my wife. He was quite responsive to followup emails discussing various details, and he very quicky created all necessary gaffs for me at a very reasonable cost. And even though he’s in Germany and I’m in the US, shipping was also both inexpensive and swift. I’m very pleased with both the quality and value of these custom gaffs. So, if anyone anywhere has need of custom card gaff work, I’d highly recommend “CardMaker” Bernd Maucksch. (Contact him at https://plus.google.com/+CardMakerBerndMauckschGermany/posts )

I can vouch for Bernd as well.
Great work and excellent customer service. Wonderful concept for the anniversary trick. But if she's like most women, she will love the thought but hate the photos of herself. I actually did something along those lines for a special occasion, but opted to use photos of our 4 cats since those are her "babies". They are now framed on her desk. I just made them myself however, never thought of having them custom made but that's a great idea and will probably do that if the opportunity comes around again. Have a great anniversary! Sounds like a very special evening for you both. |

You have to let us know how your trip to the Magic Castle went. I live pretty close to it, and it is a very special place. It is a pretty large house and there are many rooms. Get someone there to help you navigate your stay.
