Anyone know where I could get an extra large size color changing feathers trick? I've got an old set that I've been using for years, but they're badly worn and need to be replaced. I ordered the Color Changing Feather (Large) by Uday (http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/2020), but they're considerably smaller. The sticks to my old set are close to half an inch in diameter. Anyone know where I could get some this size or bigger?

Are you referring to the Color Changing Plumes. Fakini the Billiard Ball maker use to make a beautiful set on a floor stand. I don't know if his family members are carrying on the tradition of making them as well. I guess you could inquire by email to see if they are still making their father's model. Fakini never advertised his model, as he only sold them at magic conventions and by inquiry. They were very expensive. http://www.houseoffakini.com/main.sc
I believe Richard Hughes the feather flower manufacturer makes them as well. He is a member here on the Café. You can email him or check his website. website: http://www.hughesmagic.com/ email: hugmagic@raex.com |

Thanks, but I don't think that these are what I'm looking for. I think "Plumes" are what they're called. I believe that these http://www.magicmakers.com/Magicsite/Sta......mes.html are what I'm looking for, but they're out of them, and going out of buisness. Does anyone know what the manufacturer is of these? I think that this is also what I'm looking for http://www.nikhilsmagicshop.com/color-changing-plumes, but I would feel very nervous ordering from this site.

Yes, the two places I referenced make the best quality Color Changing Plumes in show business. As I said, Fakini may not make the any longer, but Richard Hughes does. If you go to his website, you will see he is the Feather Flower King. He also makes a Plume on a stick.
Magic Makers, Inc. is a wholesaler of junk magic and rip off magic products. You can find them very easily using the search engine. There are some India made CC Plumes as well. You just have to look for them. If you would have taken the time to look at Richard Hughes' website, and downloaded his PDF catalog, then scrolled down to page 2, you would have seen his Color Changing Plumes in the lower right hand corner. I remember you being the guy that invested in the Dancing Hank, so I thought you be interested in quality over junk magic. What I referenced is what you were looking for, if you want a nice professional set. Junk chicken feather plumes from India can be found at http://www.ezmagicrobbins.com/shop/searc......h=plumes , use the name to search the web to find them at a magic store or website. D. Robbins is also an import magic wholesaler, they do not sell magic to individuals, but only store owners. |

Quality is always important. But frankly, this isn't exactly a trick that requires expensive well made props. However the ones I got from Uday are relatively poor. Basically I'm just looking for a set that matches the ones I've been using since they're what I'm used to. I'm not really sure if they're high quality or not, I got them used from someone else. The ones at Robbins don't look right. Thanks for pointing out the Hughes catalog. I don't think they're the right ones either, but it's worth checking into.

I really don't know what to say, the D. Robbins ones are from India, they are squashed up in a package. If you are looking for Uday only, then just a search for Uday Magic should help you find them. I always find a complete list of all their products. Originally you did not state you were after a certain manufacturer, as you did not know the classic name of the trick.
Magic City is a Calfornia wholesaler, he list what you are looking for with a better picture, it come in large and small size. http://www.wholesalemagic.com/products/C......ick.html http://www.wholesalemagic.com/products/C......ick.html You cannot purchase from him, but you can use the title to search for the product or email them and see if they can give you a source dealer. Unless you are looking for the Big Ultra Feather Uday. This is a different trick then the CCB. This also comes in two sizes. http://www.wholesalemagic.com/products/B......day.html http://www.wholesalemagic.com/products/B......ick.html |

I tried the large one by Uday. It's the type of trick I'm looking for, but not the right one. They say it's large, but it's actually not very big, it's smaller than the ones I'm looking for.

The only other old Color Changing Plumes was made by James Rainho back in the late 1970's, he calls his business Simplex Magic, it came with a black arch stand, They were on long sticks, we sold them at the local magic shop. There have been others for a very short time on the market, way back in time. You said you "got an old set". Sorry, I did not look at your avatar, and consider you old, or the possibility of purchasing use or estate magic. Most if not all of those tricks are no longer made, for various reason. There were silent at least two other feather flower craftsman back then, they just sold wholesale and never ran any promotional ads. Most magic manufactures were basement manufacturers, that way they could work as the time permitted for them, and not have any demands on them to keeping making more.
Just like in the case of James Rainho, I ordered his display Color Changing Plumes, and his Color Changing 45rpm records. They would sell faster then I could put them on the shelf. They looked great for the money, and worked. Finally, Rainho said they were no longer available. He discontinued a product that was on constant order. That is just the it was back then. Now the choices are high end or India and China magic products. |
