I don't think they're "defending" Slim so much as chiding someone for trolling him. Bringing him up in a thread is certainly trollish behavior.

What I love about the Buster Keaton sequence in the OP is that this effect could have been easily achieved with editing, but Keaton wanted to do it in a single continuous take (with no possibility that an inconsistency in the cut would tip the edit) and a way was worked out to make it happen.
