I am looking for someone who has a working copy of General Grants lecture on DVD who will be willing to copy it for me. I have the original DVD, but it will not play on any of my machines including 3 computers. I've tried pretty much everything including buying a new copy from GG himself, but it seems there is a problem with his latest run of DVD's, and most other places aren't stocking it anymore. I can provide photos to show I have an original copy. I will also pay for postage, etc. Please PM me if you can help.

Have you tried copying the files to your computer and playing from your hard drive. Also you could import the file into Windows Movie Maker burn to another DVD that your DVD Player recognizes. The problem usually comes from people burning to Plus DVD (+DVD) and not minus DVDs (-DVD).
Also if the DVDs you have from General Grant have a sticky Label, that may also be the problem. Remove the Label on the DVD and it should play just fine. To remove easily, use a hair Dryer to heat up the label, and it should come right off. If any sticky residue is left on the DVD, use Goo-Gone to clean. Just do not scratch the other side of the disc while doing the aforementioned. |

Hey Bill,
Actually, it does have a label, so I'm going to try to remove it and see what happens. I tried putting it on my hard drive, but it won't even copy to the computer (tried both Mac and PC). When it goes into the drive, it sounds like a jet engine. I even tried a program that's supposed to remove errors in the coding, but I had no luck there either. There is so much great stuff on here, it's a shame it isn't more widely available. The first copy I bought years ago worked fine, but sadly I cannot find it.

Still no luck getting it to work. There is an error in the coding apparently.
