Hey folks
i have been performing close up magic at weddings for the last 8 years but havent performed illusions, last week a friend of mine told me about a wedding venue that it is opening in the summer and they need 10~15 min of strong illusions to leave a WOW impact on the invitees. Any suggestions for this show. Your help is highly appreciated Hady

Honestly, if the wedding is in June 2015, I'm afraid you are out of luck when it comes to designing and rehearsing a 15 minute illusion show, especially if you have never performed illusions. You will have more luck going the illusionette or parlor route, or even adapt some of your close-up routines for a larger crowd.
Maybe you could perform a ring routine - either Linking Rings (I like the Richard Ross routine), Ring on Rope, or Jay Scott Berry's Symphony on Ring and Ribbon to tie into the wedding theme. You could also do a nice Gypsy Thread routine about "what was many is now one". You could even do something like the "Bubbles" routine story from the Mystery School book. Three or four of these, with the right stories, well-told, could easily fill up the 10-15 minute time slot and would leave an impression.

Hey Clinton,
I really appreciate your reply , let me clear 2 point , as they told me the opening will be in ~august~september it seems its an indoor venue they said don't worry about the budget do whatever you want but we need something really really BIG with a WOW impact ! CEO appear or the project map ! something that will keep people talking about it for a very long time your suggestions are helpful but I could see them in a stage/parlor show rather an illusion one thanks anyway

Get in touch with Jim Steinmeyer at www.jimsteinmeyer.com .
He has designed illusions for many of the greatest illusionists out there and, since money is no object, he will be your go-to guy. Jim has helped me on several projects, and is a very nice guy.

Maybe you can rent an "Origami" Illusion from somebody. Set it to music. Pretty Wow! Nice closer.
A good Bill to Lemon plays big too. Check out Cody Fisher's "Bet Your Bucks." Nice middle piece. Can't go wrong with Kevin James' Bowl-O-Rama as an opener. Fifteen minutes. Voila. If you have a "blank check" for the budget then check out Daniel Summers Illusions. Wow!!! Best, MJ |

I also saw Jonathan Pendragon wow an audience of more than 700 with a multiple card selection routine. He used a normal deck of cards on a full-size stage, which goes to show that it's not the size of the trick, but the presentation that entertains.
