Do any of you have a copy of Tony Chang's book"I was Kidnapped and Left in Taiwan, and that's Where I got all These Notes" or know a place where I can purchase it from?
If you do that would be much appreciated. |

I think only 100 copies were made and all sold out now. You'd have to buy it second hand from someone. A long shot but you could try contacting Tony Chang or Tyler Wilson (who wrote it) if they have any left.

I believe Tony sent me the last dozen or so copies of the book, and those went out to people over a year ago. So, at the moment, it seems like you're out of luck.
But, good news- he's working on something else. And hopefully news should be coming out soon. Ben

Saw him for the first time at the Session convention last month. Count me interested in his book!

Larry Horayne has some [vulgarly colorful] analytical praise of Tony Chang's work, for folks unfamiliar with it:

Many years have passed but Ben Earl/Studio52 recently put out a reprint of Tony's old notes.

If you associate Tony with extremely difficult sleight of hand, don’t worry — there’s nothing of the sort here. Just refined, thoughtful, practical material. Get them while you can.

100% agree with Rupert. I'd say that only one effect in the notes is somewhat mechanically challenging. The rest involve clever construction and brilliant touches on moves.

The material seems fine and Chang is really skilled, but... even having greatly enjoyed his lecture some years back, there's no way I'd fork over $54 for 44 pages (six effects only) of softcover notes.
From the demo photos, the layout looks really bad too. Oversize photos (for no reason) and long paragraphs with no apparent breaks. Can't stand it when an author goes for "trendy layout" that ignores basic readability/usability. https://studio52magic.com/cdn/shop/files......00832412 I'd seriously consider this if they were charging 23-30 bucks, but otherwise... |

Tyler is one of the few magicians who cares about honest-to-god design principles — at a standard far above those usually found in magic. (I shudder to think about normal people outside of magic seeing how low-rent our publication standards are.)

There are many tricks, and many effects, but rarely a Grand Effect. There are many entertainers, but few real magicians. Many technicians, but few artists who use their art to explore their vision. - Derren Brown, Absolute Magic
