What ONE book do you recommend me to get? coz I only plan to buy one to start off with.... I'm planning to get Marvin Hardy's Balloon Magic Instruction Book...it's not the Balloon Magic Book 260Q that costs bout $17.95....It's about $5 US...It also teaches 260Q balloons sculptures... So do you think it's a good buy??? Thanks I got it, it's called "Balloon magic Basics Instruction Book".... |

Howdy-
Anyone you get is fine, after you get a 'basics' book. By the time you learn some animals, and add your own personality to the making of it, and the social interaction, you'll be doing great. After that, it is less technique than the choices of what animals you want to make. You'll be buying a pile of those books eventually, as you will want to have a nice pat well-rehearsed repetoire of animals. Hats are big, now, so you might want to also get a book on hats soon . Nice to finish a party or stroll with folks running aroung wearing your fantasmagorical creations! Makes the host and guests able to see where the money went. Very flashy.

Wow...that's something I did not think about...do I really need a pump? or is blowing good enough?

If you are beginning, yo m ight well start with blowing them up by mouth for practice (to get the technique of starting the balloon with a small bubble from your cheeks ((close off your throat to do this)), then continuing with blowing from your diaphragm)...then wshen performing, use the pump.
Eventually, you will and can blow them all up with a single breath each. Your lungs will strengthen. However, when doing 3-4 gross a day, you might want a tall one-pump stand-up blower-upper... It is possible to blow up a thousand a day via mouth. I highly recommmend it, but work up to it.

Try Captain Visual's BIG BOOK OF BALLOON ART . Its great for beginners and beyond. It has many differnt types of balloon sculptures.
I actually started on a book by Aaron Hsu-Flanders which is a basic and pretty well illistrated book. Its pretty cheap on eBay as a lot of books are. Their are many types of books. Some use different kinds of balloons- 160's, 260's, geo's, rounds, etc and some specialize in certain types. LINDA BERMAN has several books out and I think she only uses the smaller 160 balloons. Go to balloonhq.com and look around. Its supposed to be the largest online balloon site out there. Try http://www.tmyers.com/ and see the vast amount of videos, books, balloons, pumps, etc that they offer. Hope it helps, Chris |
