It wasn't the spelling error I alluded to, and some of us here take grammar and usage very seriously, by the way.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

Your other allusion WAS the issue. To say that because I misspell one thing means I have 'a lot to learn', or that it somehow conveys that I shouldn't be taken seriously is RIDICULOUS. I DO take grammar and spelling seriously. I made a mistake in spelling. You took that and used it to slam my intelligence.

I make mistakes in spelling all the time only for a much more disturbing reason. I just don't care.
It is certainly not an indication of much other than making the wrong choice in a single sentence. I doubt it an indication of a lack of intelligence. Certainty all the other words used properly indicate otherwise. As for taken seriously I don't think one wrong word should preclude that. Heck a spellchecker can give you a great average but be no indication of if you should be taken seriously. You are obviously thoughtful. Young but that does not preclude thoughtfulness. A smidgen defensive but aren't we a all at one time or another? So as for taking you seriously I choose to until proven otherwise. (You also sort of have that "last word" thingie going on. Not saying it is bad or that I don't lean that direction myself, just saying it is.)

Anand,
While everyone around you may be losing theirs, YOU strive to KEEP those qualities you value so much, especially here. Especially your humility. It's difficult to stay humble but I find it helps to breath deep before I post. You feel verbally oppressed, I'm with you, what you value should have NOTHING to do with your age. I'm over 40, and I advocate self-awareness here all the time. I also strive to NEVER lose my ability to practice it Stay humble under ALL conditions..... Kam

Like I said, you have much to learn. Your young and idealistic, we've all been there, we get it. Then we get some life behind us and we sometimes find that the ideals of youth don't always pan out. But you don't know that yet.

I do have much to learn. I have a long life ahead of me, and who knows what my positions will be in 10, 20, 30, or 40 years. I hope that the lessons I learn and the knowledge I gain will help me to be compassionate to those who are younger and less experienced than I am. You have all taught me so much. You, Bob1Dog, just may have taught me something you didn't intend to.

Anand-
I'm glad you're still posting. Drop in to the Penny for your Thoughts forum sometime if you're interested in mentalism. (I see you have listed acting and psychology on your list of interests. Both are essential to a performing mentalist.) |

Yes you can learn a lot here. Problem is much of it should have been learned in Kindergarten and most of us haven't! (Me included.)
If you can get past some of the nonsense there are some great people here. Bob and I could not disagree more about many things. On important things we could not agree more. Devil is in the details.

Well all things considered, that ended well.
I commend all that gradually developed "self awareness" as the thread went on! God bless you all and God bless the United States of America Kam
