I'm not sure if you guys have discussed this yet, so I'll post it anyhow
Slashdot has an interesting article that may affect many of you US Magicians who like doing magic with that green money of yours... Basically, the colour IS changing as of next year, and it's not going to be green anymore. Although a colour hasn't been decided, apparently "each denomination will be different". I guess its time to put thinking caps on and rework those bill transpositions! You can read the article on Slashdot: http://slashdot.org/articles/02/06/21/1949247.shtml?tid=98 |

I wonder how long it will be until they phase out cash all together?

I've wondered why they didn't do this years ago. Many countries have currency of different colors. While we may have to remake some gaffs, I think it will be good for currency magic generally. We can now do Color changes! Different denomination bills will show up better from a distance. Lots of exciting possibilities here.

As a magician who does not live in the US I have envied the US magacians for years for having all the bills the same colour and size. It is a little bit tricker to change a green note into a larger blue one without the chance being spotted. It's still possible, but just trickier.
Welcome to the rest of the world! John

You guys think you got problems!
In Northern Ireland we have no less than 5 different varieties of note in circulation. Individual banks have the right to print there own designs. Just imagine the near impossibility of switching a note..."Can I borrow a Five Pound note please, oh yes would you make sure it is a Northern Bank issue!!!

The Euro bills are not only different colors but different sizes.
Change of color? Don't worry about it! Here in Canada you should try to do a dollar in cigarette routine -- since there are ONLY dollar coins! (Although, come to think of it, that might be quite funny!) cheers, Peter Marucci showtimecol@aol.com |

At least if you're working in any part of Europe you can borrow a 20 Euro note in the knowledge that you can switch for your gaff as all Euro notes are exactly the same no matter which country you are in......a common currency!
