Hello,
what ROUTINE (not single effect) do you do with ESP cards? Best regards, Zedd |

Like a lot of "card guys", I do a single effect or two like "Perfect ESP" (Nardi) but don't really get into a full routine. More of a packet trick concept with ESP cards for me. Many good single effects out there both with and without marked cards. I am sure some card guys do somewhat of a full routine but you might also ask in one of the mentalism sub-forums.

Wasn't there just a thread on this exact topic?

I open the routine, in part to teach the five Zener symbols, with a simple one in five revelation using the Magic Marvels #3 app on my iPhone. Then I admit that, with a one in five chance of being right, the hit might not be all that impressive.
Then I introduce the Piatnik deck of the five symbols, each in five different colors, which would reduce one's chances to one in 25. I use Doug Dyment's ChromESP st--k, and perform it like Richrd Osterlind's classic card calling effect. (Dyment's approach involves a serious learning curve, but is very worth the time spent.) IMO, just one effect with ESP cards is all that should be done in a mentalism performance. Start doing complete routines with them and they will look like a series of card tricks.

Gotta agree with bevbevvybev. I think ALL the ESP card routines on the Submodalities DVD are incredible, but I especially love the "Jazz Mentalism" effect.
