Hey guys!
I am new on this website. but I have a question! I've been trying to use rubber cement to stick my skin but it's not working for somereason. I even shaved the hair on my hand to make it cleaner and cleaned the skin before using the cement. it only sticks for few seconds then opens up. any tips? |

Do some research on how safe this is.
Rubber cement is not meant for contact with your skin. Think twice about adding this to your repertoire. You don't know the effects over time and once it is a part of your tool box, you won't want to let it go. There are a million Magic effects to choose from. All the cool guys may be twitching or losing brain function in a few years. http://elmers.com/docs/default-source/ms......-htm.htm You should research heptane as well. Good luck (and judgement) dreamdsiner. -Mary Mowder |

Consider using theatrical make up liquid latex, unless you are allergic to latex. In that case, choose another effect. Theatrical make up liquid latex can be found at novelty shops, some magic shops, Halloween costume stores in season, and of course online.

Amazon lists something called "It Stays!" Roll-on Body Fixative. The product description says, ""It Stays!" Roll-On Body Fixative may be used by men, women and children to hold any article in place against your skin. "It Stays!" is pliable & moves with your body. Washes off easily with water, leaving no stain. USES: Compression Garments Socks Shoulder Straps Wigs Toupees Theatrical Makeup & Devices."
There are also a number of different medical adhesives on the market -- Skin Tac, Uro-Bond III and Dermabond are a few examples. I believe those are mostly intended for securing medical devices, or in place of sutures. The advantage of using one of these products would be that they are intended for use on your skin, so the health effects that Mary is wisely warning you about would be less of a concern.
It's still magic even if you know how it's done.

Dan Sperry came up with this safe replacement/substitute for rubber cement for use on skin.
It does contain a little latex so if you're allergic then you might want to pass on it. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S16116 |

The ping pong ball was tossed a foot or so in the air, and APPARENTLY caught in the hand. Actually, it was "caught" on the back of the hand, which closed into a fist, then was opened slowly to reveal that the ball had disappeared. The principle has been used by a few, as a juggling gag, by putting a "drop" of rubber cement on the nose and the ball would stick to the nose. I haven't seen either bit in YEARS. Your information is important! Many youngsters never think to do the research that you suggest.~

I may have originated catching a ball (or egg) on the nose. I had never seen or heard of it. I got the ideal from Miracle Sphere.

Hi Pete! I can't remember for sure. where I saw the "Miricil" It wss years ago.
I think I spelled "Miricil" the way that Percy spelled it. I only remember seeing it done, vaguely.

Derek Hughes did the ball on the nose bit to open his first audition on America's Got Talent this season. You can watch it here:

When you put the cement on your skin, are you letting it dry before you stick it together? That's really important. It will not work well at all if you try to glue the skin together before the glue dries first.

And there are those who perspire.
It's a treasure padded down from your ancient ancestors who developed this tarter to repel bugs. So if your roots are Mediterranean or other type that manufactures sweat, even in the lightest viscosity, you might be challenging and uphill battle. I have the same problem and need to use alcohol based hair spray to gain traction on my ball manipulation. In theatrical applications we use a surgical grade adhesive to hold appliances on your face. Alcohol is first wiped on. The removal is tedious. Not sure if it has the same properties of RC. In the end you kay or may not be able to perform your effect. Good luck.
