Hi guys! I just made this tonight for the restaurant I work on Wednesdays. Figured I'd share!
MAGIC - Klinger's Menu: https://youtu.be/KTbhBha60tk The holdout is actually big enough that I could produce a burger, fries AND the drink, and it could even be in a glass. Thinking about adding a small board to the gimmicked page so it handles better and doesn't bend like it does in the video. |

Nice!
I redressed a temple Screen into a Menu with books on the Other side for the Summer Library Reading Program "Reading is so delicious". It worked great. I'll thought it would look even better with a real tri-fold menu and menu printed on both sides. The tri-fold type menu has a nice simplicity so people feel they are seeing both sides. I see what you mean about modified. The handling was different than I expected. I'd like to see this again when you've done the final edit on the patter. -Mary Mowder |

But, since I was building out of *actual* menus from the restaurant, I figured it'd be best to try and maintain continuity between my gimmicked menu and the normal ones the customers will be holding. I actually sat at my workbench racking my brain for well over an hour when it dawned on me that I was trying to make it harder than it needed to be. I'm going to spruce everything up and get some solid patter down. Once I do, I'll film it being performed at the actual restaurant and I'll post an update here! Thanks for the encouragement! |

Very nice. Not to e critical, but splash bottle would allow you to use any menu.

That looks good and I thought the same thing about splash bottle myself.

Thanks!
I appreciate the tip! I am familiar with splash bottle, but once I actually start using this at the restaurant I'm planning on pulling food and stuff out of the menu as well. One of the bartenders had a neat idea that I could pull out a Corona, then a bottle opener, then a little cutting board, knife, and lime. That would be funny. The only problem I'm still having is that the menu bows when the holdout has a lot in it. I added a board to the gimmicked page and it helps, but it doesn't let the menu looked as closed as it does in the video... I've got my work cut out for me but I'm having tons of fun so far so it's worth it! I'll get another video up as soon as I can and maybe I can pick you guys' brains for some more advice! Thanks again! |

Matty, please let us know what turned out. Did you use your magic menu often and successfully? Without knowing what your actual menu looks like, perhaps you can add a 1 mm cardboard underneath the real menu to stiffen it up a bit. You may even obtain the original printing files for the menu and print it out on adhesive paper which can then be stuck to a base board...
Please tell us what turned out. |

Matty, your idea about adding a stiff piece of material to the gimmick section is excellent and Mary Mowder ideas are very creative. That's how professionals think out the box.
I also made a little change to the load bag. I remove the bag from the folder and reattached it using strong piece of ribbon so that the folder lies flat on the table with the bag hanging down behind the table. Open the screen before you pick it up and as you lift it up. the load bag comes up behind the entire screen. Tricky Ricky |

Great idea! I'd be interested to know if you have any angle problems on Wednesday night. In the video your dog had a behind-the-scenes view but was kind enough not to howl.

I'm going to start using this. It's gone. Mine forever. I can't believe I didn't come up with this myself. THANK YOU!
No matter how many times you say the wrong thing, it will NEVER be right.

Perhaps arrange with the Restaurant to allow you hand out say a Complimentary Garlic Bread Basket, and whilst "explaining " the menu - Voila
Highly memorable and Great for the Venue ! |
