I'd like to start a thread soliciting your favorite little magic booklets, pamphlets, and lecture notes (under 100 pages, softcover, often with a simple stapled binding). It seems that these are sometimes overlooked but can be a very affordable source of great magic material. I'm particularly interested in learning more about the ones that are still somewhat readily available and feature effects that haven't been repeated elsewhere, or are harder to acquire in other formats.
Somewhat inspired by threads like this: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......&forum=2 (Can't seem to dig up the one I found a while back, that had a great list of these.) I recently picked up the wonderful "...And a Pack of Cards" by Merlin and "Coin Magic" by Hugard. The Vernon fans out there might know that Ganson's enormous tome Essential Dai Vernon doesn't include the booklets "Early Vernon" or "Dai Vernon's Select Secrets" so those are worth tracking down for all you completists. And if Marlo is your guy you might want something like "Deck Deception" which isn't collected in either Cardially Yours or Revolutionary Card Technique. What else would you recommend? |

Kabbalah, agreed -- Denny is a great source for hard to find materials. I visited his Baltimore shop a couple weeks ago for the first time. What a treasure trove!
DelMagic, thanks for the recommendations! I did also manage to find the other thread I was looking for that has a couple good lists of these. http://themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic......forum=27 I'd love to get some more good recommendations, especially any fitting this criteria: 1) still in print or not hard to find 2) selling for less than $20 3) the content hasn't yet been republished in a larger collection, or the collected version is pricey or hard to find |

The Living End is a great booklet on creating your own effects.....should be reprinted for the new generations.

Verbal Control by Phil Goldstein is the best $5 pamphlet I've ever bought.
