At one time I tried white shoe polish on an old set of Ireland's golf balls(3). Results were not good. When the shoe polish dried the surface cracked all over... Smile

For anyone who has some of the old Ireland sh _ _ ls and is looking for replacement golf balls, I also found these balls on Amazon which fit the Ireland sh _ _ ls , and they are white golf balls, so no re-painting is necessary like with the green , pink, or orange Callaway practice balls.

18 white golf balls for $9.99. 36 white golf balls for $14.99 (those are the prices as of Feb. 10, 2022). Use 4 and store the rest in a sealed container in a cool, dark storage space to preserve them.

Here's a photo I had intended to include with my previous post. This shows one of the balls with the Ireland thingamajig -

Works fine for the Golf Ball Thru Handkerchief, here performed by Billy McComb -

That's GREAT, David! Are all the links you've shared for the same product? (I want to be sure to order the right one.)

Hi, Julie -

To clarify: The first link I shared on Jan 31, 2022 05:50 pm was for the Green, Pink, or Orange Callaway-branded practice golf balls. The Callaway balls fit the Ireland sh _ _ l , but would need to be painted white.

The better golf balls to get are these generic White practice golf balls - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0728H3FLW?psc......_details
That's the link I posted on Feb 10, 2022. These white balls fit the Ireland sh _ _ l and do not require any painting. (they come in other colors, too , if interested in doing color changes ... or if you wanted to use colored golf balls you could always paint the sh _ _ ls to match , but I prefer the classic white balls. Just be sure to select the color option White when you order.)

Got the "practice golf balls". They are perfect. Thanks, David!

(I discovered we still have 3 Ireland metal shells. These must be antiques now. Smile)

David Todd -

On the Amazon.fr I see this brand (Dsmile) only in the yellow colour, but this is not bad. https://www.amazon.fr/Dsmile-Practise-Ba......1ZCVJ39/ Another brand has white and other colours - https://www.amazon.fr/VUXYMCY-%C3%A9last......C7ML9FV/

I am more concerned to locate the "turtle" Smile as someone has put it on another thread. I am hopeful that someone could use a 3D printing technique to make it (?) I think I will speak to Prop Dog in the U.K. , because they might do it.

Way back I used to perform a routine where a golf ball penetrates a silk, getting 'stuck' half way so that you could hold the silk open from two corners, and the ball is seen lodged half way on both sides. Billy McComb used to deo this effect, and it is one I always enjoyed. I am now practicing a multiplying routine with Fakini golf balls and wish to integrate the penetration into the routine with a green silk. Problem though is that the hard silicone Fakini balls are too heavy, and raising the silk to show the lodged 'ball' will usually rersult in the whole thing coming apart.

I was wondering if anyone performs this effect with the Fakini balls, and what solution could work to prevent the dislodge due to the weight, other than of course switching the ball and fake to a lighter plastic set.

I use a standard Fakini set with no mods, it just sticks but can fall apart if you shake the silk.

Viking magic has a new set of golf balls that are suitable for the Golf Ball Through Handkerchief , plus of course the multiplying golf balls routine.

I spoke with Viking Magic and as David wrote, their new golf balls will work fine with the Golf Ball Through Handkerchief. I ordered a set and will add a post once I've had a chance to try them out. I've loved this trick since seeing on Dick Oslund's wonderful DVD.

Received the multiplying balls set from Viking Magic. The "golf balls" themselves are softer material. The gimmicks (comes with two) are very well made - Viking told me they're metal. Best of all, this product makes the ball through silk a breeze.
