Hi everyone -- my Ring meets monthly at a nearby school and we were told to get "meeting insurance" -- to protect the school should something happen -- whatever that might be. I called IBM HQ and was referred to one of their insurance companies and was told that -- if every member took out insurance individually from IBM -- we'd be covered. As a Ring of more than 80 members that was not going to happen. Oh, but also that they didn't offer "meeting insurance" for Rings (clubs). I called my insurance agency and was quoted more than $800 annually. I couldn't believe it.
Anyone have ideas? Thanks -- Danny IBM Ring 50 President Alexandria, VA |

Check with Specialty Insurance Agency (specialtyinsuranceagency.com) and se if they might offer more affordable coverage. Meanwhile, I'll follow up and bring this up to the Executive Committee. The problem s that there isn't a large demand for this type of coverage making it a lower priority issue ... But, that creates a problem for you.
I'll see what I can find. Skip

Move the meetings to a local library. They don't require insurance if they provide meeting rooms.
