I am very interested in hearing your thoughts, no only about the stack, but the effects included. Did you get the 13mm stebbins? If so, how do the calculations compare to that one?

I bought this one a few days back. This is almost revolutionary. It changes everything about the good old stebbins stack. The age old theory that professionals avoid si stebbins due to its inherent weaknesses, now goes for a big toss.
Frankly, you actually do not learn 6 stacks in 60 seconds, which I was rather childishly expecting ! You only get to know the rules in 60 seconds and these are fairly simple to know. This 8-in-1 discovery is a game changer. I can now intuitively SEE all 8 stacks, yes it is 8 and not just 6. And after seeing this terrific suit system and how it plays for all the stacks, you will never go back to the red/black pattern of chased or shocked etc. One single set of rules with simple school math and you can work all the 8 stebbin stacks. The routine provided OCTOPUS DATE is terrific. It is so self working that, I do not actually need to know any of these 8 stacks to perform. Absolutely no memory or math required from me to perform this killer. But this routine is more suitable for parlor or platform and is not a close up quickie. Earlier, I also got 13MM of Stebbins. In 13MM only one pair of stacks is worked out with one one set of simple math, whereas in 6 stacks in 60 secs, 4 pairs of different stebbins stacks can be worked out, again, with just one set of fairly simple math. Well, I enjoyed both and found useful. And in both cases, a couple of days of practice is obviously essential. And if it matters, 13mm is on top of hot list in lybrary and 6 stacks in 60 secs is also in the hotlist top 10, if I remember right. On the value for money count, both score well for me.

Is the book mostly about the calculations? or are there tips and techiniques on how to handle the stack? Can you explain the effects described in the book, not the method, but what the spectators see? And are those effects specific to this stack, or can they be accomplished with other stacks?
Thanks |

Hi Marc
Sorry for the belated reply. Some patterns are shown which make it very easy to know all the 8 stacks in one shot. There are basically 3 rules. One for converting card position to card value, another for converting card value to card position and the third one to know the next card, above or below. All these 3 rules involve calculations but I found them very basic and quite easy. Just one set of these 'rules' works for all 8 stacks. Apart from these 3 rules, there are 3-4 observations which make this whole thing possible. These observations or patterns are 'naturally' a part of all these 8 Si stebbins stacks.

There is only one routine given - Octopus Date - and I found it to be a killer one, alone worth the cost of the book, I think.
It is a 'grand' piece. You will need 8 decks of cards. In 1st phase 2 spectators deal to a randomly chosen card. In phase 2, four spectators deal to another randomly chosen card. And finally in phase 3, eight spectators deal to yet another randomly chosen card. All the 3 predictions match one after the other. This will definitely fry a room full. The biggest plus in Octopus Date is the performer is totally hands off as it is self working.

And moreover, the performer even need not actually know ANY of the 8 stacks to perform this. A nice scripting & patter needs to be added by me, I feel.

I was intrigued and got this a while back. Fantastic insights into all Si Stebbins stacks. Some really clever discoveries. Although using Stebbins for many many years, this stuff was very new and interesting. The included routine is a good one and self working. Surprisingly it doesn't require the magi to actually know any of the stebbins stacks.
There is no better freedom than choice and no better choice than freedom.
