Well, the critter went and done it! I've been lusting after these coins for nearly a decade, but could not justify the cost - being a mere enthusiast and not earning a living through magic. Made the decision to endulge myself after hearing a FOAF passed suddenly. Not to be morbid, but we all have an expiration date; procrastinating is a game for the young. In the words of a great Canadian, 'we are only immortal for a limited time" (Geddy Lee, RUSH).
Enough blabbering. After contacting the top coin manufacturers I decided on Roy Kueppers, not because he is a fellow Canuck, but because his reputation is without equal, he is the only artist to have worked with Canadian silver, and he gave me a very good price. It took him less than two weeks to soften and remill six silver dollars, then manufacture the best [ I have ever seen. The exp. [ fits perfectly over all five coins and cannot be spotted even edge on. Absolutely gorgeous and so, as requested here are a few pics. Set consists of five silver dollars plus an exp. [ I've added a Morgan and Kennedy for comparison. <a href= "http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Doobrother/Coins/coins1_zpskl6v2pm6.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Doobrother/Coins/coins1_223x240_zpsgvn5glzb.jpg" border="0" alt="C1s photo coins1_223x240_zpsgvn5glzb.jpg"/></a> Click on the pic to enlarge <a href="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Doobrother/Coins/coins3_zpsi4srdydj.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Doobrother/Coins/coins3_218x240_zps6yqnxz2j.jpg" border="0" alt="C2s photo coins3_218x240_zps6yqnxz2j.jpg"/></a> Click on the pic to enlarge Can you find the [ in the following pics ? <a href="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Doobrother/Coins/coins2_zpsagolwv2d.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Doobrother/Coins/coins2_320x216_zpsbtho3tjl.jpg" border="0" alt="C3 photo coins2_zpsagolwv2d.jpg"/></a> Click on the pic to enlarge <a href="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Doobrother/Coins/coins4_zpszdg4lesy.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Doobrother/Coins/coins4_320x240_zpszhgfxxpl.jpg" border="0" alt="C4s photo coins4_320x240_zpszhgfxxpl.jpg"/></a> Click on the pic to enlarge <a href="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Doobrother/Coins/coins5_zpsdmaycdqz.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Doobrother/Coins/coins5_180x240_zpskcs5vlk3.jpg" border="0" alt="C5s photo coins5_180x240_zpskcs5vlk3.jpg"/></a> Click on the pic to enlarge |

Ok, this is weird.... when editing my initial post in this thread, I have no problems seeing the pictures, yet all that shows up when viewing this page is the html ?!! To clarify, when I first created the post, and clicked on the "Preview Post" button, I could/can see the images. Seems as if html is 'on' within the editor and possibly 'off' when just reading a post...
Anyone know why ?? |

Wow that's a gorgeous set. Congratulations!
Can you shoot me a PM? I have a question about your experience with Roy, since I'm still waiting to hear back from him about mine. From your thread over here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......09901#12 , it seems you had better success. Thanks! |

Magnus: Thanks! My intent was to display the smaller pics, linking them to the bigger ones (which is why you're seeing double, sorta). Can you tell me what exactly I was doing wrong ? Javascript ? It should not be this difficult to post a pic, imho.
TonsOfQuestions: Thanks bro, as I mentioned earlier, feels like Christmas! PM is on it's way. |

You're welcome Carpetshark. Photobucket's formatting doesn't work here. To see what I di, click on quote and take a peek at the MC syntax.

So Shark, what sorts of routines do you do/will you do with these fabulous-looking new coins?
I have a set of 4 soft Morgans with a perfectly matched x[ that was actually hand made by an old friend here on the Café. Though I don't find myself using it a lot, I do love the make of it - they are absolutely beautiful to behold and present with. Probably something I hopefully hand down to a deserving grandchild one day, more so than I do any magic with them nowadays. Enjoy your new set.

Magnus, will do. Next time I'll upload the pics to a different server.
Mb: Interesting that you mentioned passing them on to a grandchild, as I plan on doing the same. Hopefully one of them will discover the joys of coin work... What will I do with the set? I have to admit, my reasons for taking this rather expensive jump to a pro set include the eye-candy factor. So, apart from liking shiny things, I will use them for the usual stuff: 3 Fly, Breaking a Dollar, Coins Across, etc. but recently I've been working on longer, more theatrical routines by Liwag (Coins 2), Franzis (Breath of Eole) and Charlie Justice(Covert Coins). Finally, owning a dollar-sized [ really 'expands' my potential repertoire. |

A beautiful set, CarpetShark. I was going to ask if they were indeed soft, one of your requirements, because the profile details still looks pretty sharp.
I see in another thread that you indicated they are soft and silent. Well done by RK. Randy |

Hey Randy, thanks for your interest. Yep, the coins are soft: Roy is a %$@# magician! Although this set did set me back a few bucks, as anyone who has had a set made will know, here's how I justified the expense: 1) I now have my dream set, one more thing to cross off my bucket list, 2) The psychological boost I feel when using them is priceless, 3) eye-candy: My nipples get hard just looking at them , 4) I needed a dollar-sized [, and 5) the coins had to be soft. A nice bonus is these coins are slightly thinner as each was cut down, softened and remilled. This allows for some stacked edge work ala Harbottle. The sky's the limit
