What is your preferred rod for a DIY seance cloth? A mop handle? dowel? curtain rod?
I'm finding that I like a lightweight mop handle. Easily gripped by a Yoshino gimmick. More of a pain to transport though. |

I find a square dowel lets me position the gimmick with more flexibility and all is me not to have to attach it permanently.

Very intriguing. I am unaware of what a "DIY seance cloth" is. An anyone direct me to an online source to dispel my ignorance?

I believe they are talking about creating a "spirit cabinet" for a seance that uses a single rod to span the area between two walls in the corner of a room.
Material is draped from the rod to the floor. The Yoshino gimmick frees one hand to perform all the spirit activities. The rod can also be wedged in the corner to both hands are free. You can use a spirit hand tie so both hands can be used to manifest. Doc Hilford has written about it, but I think you can find information in old writings from the late 1890's thru 1930 of spiritualist mediums debunking frauds. The Will Alma Collection online at the Victorian State Library in Austrailia is a good source as well as Archive.org Hopes this helps Christopher.

I think they are talking about the seance/spirit cloth.
The performer hold the cloth in front of him/herself and objects/things move and appear behind it. I prefer the radio antenna like pointer. This should be discussed downstairs. Tony |

Tony, you are correct. I mean a cloth held by hand, only a few feet wide.
Mcharisse, a square dowel is an intriguing idea. I hope I haven't erred in posting this. I think I'm a few posts short of "downstairs". |

It's commonly called a daylight seance if you are unsure what we are talking about. And I'd be happy to continue discussion downstairs if anyone starts a new thread. It's a gimmick I've been doing a fair amount of work with recently.

I've been working on a comedy routine with it !
Using, Quiet Riot's 'Metal Health' for background music. "Bang your Head ... Raise the Dead"
"If you watch Godzilla backwards, it's about a big ass lizard who helps rebuild a half burnt-down city, then moonwalks back into the ocean"

Ah, ok. Not what I was envisioning at all. But I do have a very interesting idea for a new toy, now.
