Not impressed with this at all.
"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "

..and it is exactly like an old Steve Dusheck (I believe) trick
called Dollar, which was cut with a razor knife instead of the business card...

I don't know why but I see a lot of new bill tricks these days. In any case, I think it's obvious to any magician the method used here. Yeah, I have seen the same concept applied to a certain trick "Incredihole". I assume the problem with this bill, however, is its thickness, as you can't show the edges, and can't allow your spectator to be very close.

This reminded me of Baffling Bucks from Volume 2 of Larry Anderson's Jaw Droppers series.
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

Hey Guys,
I've just reached out to Steve via email to see how similar the methods are - at the time of filming, none of the team at Penguin working on this had seen anything similar, but on occasion Independant discovery happens. I'll wait for Steve's response and throw a post here letting everyone know the resolution! Let's hope there's differences enough to keep this project live - it's a great effect that I really enjoy working, so much so, I contributed my method for doing it with a borrowed bill to the project. Regardless of the origin, I whole-heartedly recommend Ravi's solution (and of course Steve's too if it's similar)! Good vibes, DC // PenguinMagic.com

I got it. It's OK. Can't be too close but its worth it. Don't have to perform the whole thing just pieces if you want to keep it short. It's less than one coffee drink at Starbucks. And downloading it,reading the PDF and making it takes longer than drinking the coffee. And in the end, you'll have something.
It's a funny phenomenon really, how most don't hesitate, don't give it a second thought, to spend 5$ on a consumable product like coffee yet they ponder for days whether to spend 5$ on a cool trick. I suppose the reason is is that we know what the coffee experience will be each time, in other words, we know what we are getting. I guess this is a valid reason. But the phenomenon is interesting nonetheless. |
