Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.

This is a "One on One" Trick, therefore very impractical to be the most effective.
It is only one person that has to convey the feelings, surprise, and emotions of the person to everyone else. The attention will be on the ear buds, not the performer. Not good. This is not magic but electronics. |

Not all magic has to be for a group. When I'm not working, I prefer my magic to be a one off special moment just for that person. This seems like something that I would do. I just want to make sure this is not going the route of Pyro.

If a magician sells his services and gets paid to entertain and perform for 30 or more people, then one on one tricks are not a good choice. The late great Don Alan (a professional close-up magician all his life), mentioned this in his lectures. |

I don't get how this would be any different from revealing the thoughts or choice of one spectator in front of a whole group. The group reacts to the reaction of the spectator. Sure you may show your drawing duplication or thought of word to the group, but they only know whether to applaud or react based on the one spectators reaction.
With decibel, you could involve two people with headphones as they can be split between two people. A sven pad force of a song and both people will react to the music. I think that would play for a small group during walk around, particularly for a younger crowd. In fact, not knowing this advice, I did a small amphitheater show where one trick was going to be a sort of test conditions prediction effect. Using a BCS stack, I determined the card of the teenager who very fairly selected a card and held onto it. Then I brought out my invisible deck and preceeded to show the faces for the wrong side. Trying not to panic, I just said well it looks like I forgot to turn a card over in the deck, I guess I'm just going to have to read your mind. There was one person who knew what the card was and he had under his hand, pinned to his chest. You should have seen the look of utter astonishment and bewilderment of that young mans face when I called his card correctly. I can tell you the audience did and it got a nice ovation from the crowd. Quote: On Jul 22, 2016, Bill Hegbli wrote:

News flash sometimes I will perform something one on one for the booking agent or the HR person who books the Christmas act, the wedding planner ect. ect. It's almost like you forget that not everyone works on stage. That there are *GASP* professional close up magicians. Eugene Burger talks about working with one or two spectators. Ricky Jay has talked about when he does something away from a paid gig he likes to work one on one. But then again Don Alan said it once. I mean it;s like times can not change at all. I mean surly you are not calling anyone who don't work on stage an amateur are you? I think you are. And you wonder why people dismiss what you say all the time.

Matthew Crabtree, I have to go back to my experiences. I once showed a trick to a client for a trade show. His 1st words were, I want that trick for my trade show. Try doing Decibel for several thousand people walking in front of your booth.
Why waste money on a trick that will not fit all performing situations. If you think otherwise, fine, I have not problem with that, at least you can make an informed decision, and not an emotional one, because it is something new on the market. I look forward to your review of Decibel very soon. Quote:

Please don't put words in my mouth, is that what I said or typed. Look up the meaning of amateur, it does not reflect your thinking. It seems you have no problem with insulting people though. Why don't you start dismissing my posts. The Café will benefit from it. |

Kaliix, the difference is this is using one of the 5 senses, that changes trying to compare this to a mental effect. The reaction of people will be to use that sense and hear for themselves. Not simply take the word of the initial person. Very different, I don't believe this can be compared to a mental effect, and they will accept what a spectator claims.
Looking forward to your review after purchasing this product. |

Did you really just say "why waste money on a trick that will not fit all performing situation"? That's a pretty silly comment. There probably aren't any illusions that fit every performing situation, at the very most only a few. I've bought many wonderful effects that only work in very specific situations. That's not even remotely a requirement for my purchasing something. I just want a good, mind blowing effect. Any close up or walk around table magician could use this to great effect.

Now Apple are rumoured to get rid of the headphone socket on the iPhone 7 I might buy one just to listen my own music collection.

On a serious note it might be as an "instant st**ge" device*. You could build an effect then that would play well to a bigger audience for example put him in a psudo trance and tell him he will hear voices from headphones that are not plugged in and play in a file with instructions to think of a specific number/picture ect.
*I'm guessing from the description. I don't have one. |

Didn't grab me as an effect I would want to work, feels more at home for a TV magician on one of his specials.
But that's just me |
