Not the easiest thing to practice as you never know what answer the spectator will give and your script has to change depending on each answer. Im sure everyones trusted friends and partners gets sick of you practicing on them so Ive written a webpage to help me with it. there is no script with it, you will have to develop your own. this is solely so you can get a different answer each time and practice changing your script to suit the moment. I hope it helps someone. http://mysandbox.me.uk/mentalisthelp/52equivoke/default.php Its not pretty but if there is any functionality missing please comment or let me know. Obviously if you want to get to a picture card some choices are missing (high/low and odd/even)

I think the best way to equ*voque down to one card is with a deck in ribbon spread (face up, or face down if the cards are m*rked) just like Max Maven did in this clip:
One thing to point out though; This technique it's much more difficult than it seems and must be mastered first. But then again, you are watching the master himself. PS- I didn't understand that website/app you posted, maybe I'm a bit too slow. Best, Ever

OK, so to explain it further, the page is to help develop your own equivoke script.
You start with a target card at the top of the page, this is what you want your final outcome to be. Lets pretend its the 3H First your script may say something like "First we need to pick one, Black or Red?" click the equivoke the colour button, their response will be revealed. Suppose its black . Now you script may say "ok so we eliminate the black leaving us with the 2 red suits, hearts and diamonds. Which do you prefer? now click the equivoke the suit button to get their response. suppose its Hearts, you would say "So you prefer the hearts. Great we can get rid of the diamonds etc. All the responses are random but relevant when required i.e. the suits will always be the 2 the same colour of the target card never the other 2 so if the target is red the suits will always give a response of Hearts and Diamonds even if the colour chosen was black and of course if your script doesn't requite part of whats included e.g. you just need a value not a suit then you can skip elements of the page. I will make an option at some point so instead of a random card you can start with a force card, It was just something I knocked up during some downtime today to help me and figured it may help someone else also. |

What you have created seems like a very helpful tool for those who want to learn the technique. I can tell you have put some time into this and the fact that you have shared this is a very kind gesture. Thank you.

On Jul 13, 2016, joelclyne wrote: Very nice. Just a suggestion- Don't use the specific word, "pick", if there may be an elimination in the process (as there is here). It doesn't make sense to "pick" something only to then eliminate it. Let's say it's the 3H, as it is in your example. Frame it in a way that's more disguised: "Ok, we need to eliminate some cards. So in this game of elimination, when I snap my fingers, just say black or red." Now if they say, "black", it's very natural to quickly say, "blacks are eliminated!" If they say, "red", you ALSO say, "blacks are eliminated!" Because you're speaking in non-specific terminology, each answer makes sense. Same thing with the word, "prefer". Too specific and can lead to a force that's not logical. Instead, I'd also do a Maven-esque force, and say, "Ok, so we have the two red suits left. This is a big decision! Hand me either the hearts or diamonds." (Now, put all the focus on the person who ended up with the hearts.) |

Joelclyne I find your page very useful! While it doesn't really help with the patter or tells you how to e**ivoque a certain card - as it is not its purpose, it is great when practicing because in stead of a live spectator or making up the answers myself, I can practice it more practically. So thank you very much!
P.S. I've got no problem with the design, find it easy to use and the minimalist approach suits it nicely.

Just yesterday I perform a routine of mine using a 52-card procedure for this technique.
Best way to learn it is to read as much as you can from the various authors (Mc Leod,Quinn, Maven, Knepper, Eldson, Hilford, Berglas to name a few), actually WRITE a script, study the text and the subtext and GO OUT and do it. Real performances will give you the confidence, timing and psychological framing that you need to create an effective routine with this wonderful technique. Best

One thing to point out though; This technique it's much more difficult than it seems and must be mastered first. But then again, you are watching the master himself. While I agree that Max Maven is a master far above anything I hope to achieve, this technique really isn't that difficult if you understand what's happening. I use it quite often and have never been "caught out". (One friend helped me on a day when I repeated this six or eight times, and afterwards commented that he still had no idea how I did that!) The biggest thing to remember in front of a live audience is don't let it drag! Ed |

Joelclyn, you might want to look into Jheff's book "Heads I Win, Tails You Lose". It's all about equivoque.

On Jul 14, 2016, gabelson wrote: I do the opposite. My suggestion is to use specific words like "pick", "take", "put your finger on" as you ask, but not to use phrases like "blacks are eliminated" or "so it leaves us with the red ones" as a response. I never claim what is eliminated and what rests. It just sounds wrong and it is the weakest point of equi in my opinion. It's much better to silently put black cards aside or say something that doesn't make sense like "great choise", "you see how easy it is", and then put black cards aside and then immediatly move to next choise. So, example with 3H: "Do you want/prefere red or black?"(spec has deck in his hands in brand new order) - "Black" - "Very easy, isn't it? Take out all black cards and give the red ones to this pretty girl sitting near you. What is your name?"(move attention to girl and she will make the next choise). "Do you want/prefere red or black?"(spec has deck in his hands in brand new order) - "Red" - "Exellent! Take out all black cards and give the red ones to this pretty girl sitting near you."(and rest with him, ask to fan cards or whatever you like for the next step). So the key in my opinion is not to use the questions that can be interpret differently, but really do different actions for different choises. Pavel |

On Jul 15, 2016, Michael Zarek wrote: Thank you, Michael, of cause it's my mistake (printing at 2 a.m. wasn't such a good idea). The correct script is: "Do you want/prefere red or black?"(spec has deck in his hands in brand new order) - "Red" - "Exellent! Then take out all black cards and give THEM to this pretty girl sitting near you."(so he chooses red cards and keeps them, and gives black cards to girl, because he doesn't need them anymore). Hope this helps. Pavel |

Cut the cars in half, then cut them in half again, then again. Now you have about 7 cards to choose from. Work your way however you may.
