Have been on one where the Gaff didn't slide, but the 'Gorilla' used a rocking motions of the shoulders and body to disguise the fact that he was skirting 'around' the gaff. Hahaha.

In Carnival Knowledge the gaff is hinged. It's also made of 1/2 inch Plexiglass.

Thanks Todd for the input.
I haven't found much on the Web that even resembles the G2G. Peppers Ghost and the Blue Illusion are the close I have found. There are a few books with the plans to the G2G. If anyone is really interested in the how to's for the G2G, I can put them in touch with folks that will get them the plans. Including the Bally tapes for the whole show. Back in the early 70's, my dad and I saw the G2G show. I remember the whole act but the climax when the gorilla "breaks loose" and jumps at the audience set my dad to laughing so hard. He was amazed at the people rushing to get out of the tent. He was a civil engineer and his suspension of disbelief never took hold. He just watched all the frightened people running away and enjoyed the performance for what it was. A cute optical illusion. I watched the show several more times as was so proud of myslef for figuring out how it worked.

Abbott's used to sell an illusion called "The Frame of Life and Death," which was sort of a Blue Room in miniature. A spectator's head inside the TV-like cabinet turned into a skull and back.
Using this with a 'grey alien' head or stuffed mask, you could present it as an MIB 'alien detector.' You work it with a spectator while apparently not paying any attention to what's happening with the spectator's face, and pattering along the lines of, "Now if our friend here were an alien in disguise, the alien detector would have revealed his true appearance."
