Does anyone know if anybody found the $100K from his first book? Is there somewhere that I can go to get the solution?

From doing a web search I didn't seem to find if a winner was declared or not. There seem to be a lot of people out there claiming to have found it, but no hard proof has been offered. The puzzle's creator, Cliff Johnson, says he will post the complete solution on his website in January 2005.

Speaketh of the Devil.
"Mysterious Stranger by street magician David Blaine, released October 29, 2002, containing his $100,000 Challenge. I met David Blaine and Bill Kalush in Spring 2001. They were staying in the Mike Tyson Suite at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and they flew me up to chat. When David eyeballed the cover of The Fool’s Errand, he turned to Bill and said “I want Cliff to do our treasure hunt.” A grueling sixteen months later, March 20, 2004, the Challenge is solved. Stay tuned for updates, including the solutions to all three methods." http://www.fools-errand.com/08-curiosities/david-blaine.htm |

I didn't realize there were three methods and second, wasn't there a 1 year time limit on finding the treasure....was the person 4 months too late?

Great story and great puzzle. I spent hours seeing if I could solve it....just for fun really and failed miserably.

What do you really think?
Hoax? If there was a winner, it would be a high profile thing, but since there is no news about it... another magic antic.

What happens if a tree falls in the forest but no one is there to witness it?
Yes, David Blaine's $100,000 Challenge is solved. Surprisingly, both Random House and Blaine chose to squander the publicity opportunity, especially shocking for the street magician to pass up free face time. The Official Solution and the Winner's Tale are posted at my website. http://www.fools-errand.com/08-curiosities/david-blaine.htm

I followed this for a long time, and yes, it's real.
It's great to see it solved, but at the same time, it's solved. Ugh. |
