Looks like a shimmed card as the prediction as Dave appears to ditch something from the face of the box . Pure guessing but that's my thoughts after watching this performance . That doesn't make it bad but seems logical from a magicians perspective 😊

A shimmed card is not used for this effect.

There is a very clever gimmick in play (as is the custom of Mikael Chatelain) but both the deck and the case are ordinary and you supply your own. Both are ungimmicked.

That's good to know thanks I just could see it being done this way but Mickael is far more creative than that so would of been slightly surprised 😊

This thread reminded how much I have enjoyed this effect. I honestly only bought because I've kind of started a collection of Mickael's releases.
It is essentially self-working and with a strong presentation it can be a real fooler and have a lot of impact.

I really like that the gimmick can remain safely in the card box until you bring it into play. This protects the gimmick and also means you can perform most any effect using the deck prior to this effect as you are using a regular deck. You also have the option of skipping it and not performing it at all in a particular set should you so choose to.

Also, you can open with it or close with it or perform it at any time you want.
Perhaps the only real con to the effect is you are left a little dirty at the finish but that is not a big deal at all, especially if you've been using the deck prior to performing Influence.

Before performing this I've usually had a couple cards chosen by specs in the usual fashion so I tell them I'm going to let them select one in a different way this time. In the most fair and honest way I possibly can.

As a side note, I have the proper size hole punch and I use that to enlarge the existing half moon cut out in the card box. This serves two purposes. First it allows them a better view to see that I am genuinely removing the top card of the deck each time I remove one. Secondly, it makes it easier to remove the individual cards briskly and smoothly so the flow of the effect moves right along.

Anyway, I'd probably rate this 8/10.
A tad pricey but the gimmick is hand made and works perfectly.

Received today.... the gimmick is genius and looks really fun to perform.
Would be nice to have different gimmick in order to have the possibilities of different outcomes.... do you know if they already sell gimmick refills???
