Hello to all here on the forum. Although this is my first time on here, and I am new to the his forum, I have been interested in magic for over 35 years.
I thought it was about time I got more involved. My love for this fine art has never left me, it's true that once bitten, always bitten. Anyhow, I hope I can offer and receive experience about magic in the future.... |

Hello,
Thanks for the welcome. I have always loved all forms of magic, but my real love is close-up. I remember when I first joined the Wolverhampton Magic Circle way-back now, in 1983. I was 13 years old, I was so excited and nervous too. I couldn't really believe that people got together to share interests, ideas etc. I was really amazed at the different people that turned-up from many different walks-of-life. The person who I remember the most and the one that really was kind and supportive was a man called Tom Laws. He came to my house when I was at school and talked to my mom about my 'genuine' interest. He seconded me too when I got in. Really nice man, who sadly passed away not long after. I remember him because he looked a bit like Dante, goatee beard and all. The Wolverhampton Circle magicians still compete, I believe, for the 'Tom Laws plate' every year. I am no longer a member of that circle, my family left the area in 1986. However, I remember with fondness many people from that time. If anyone reads this that knows the history of The Wolverhampton Magic Circle, Lawson Siviter, was secretary at that time. Another great magician, I thought, was a guy named Steve Burton, great close-up magician. I was blown away with his dexterity. I have no real idea what happened to people that were members nearly 35 years ago, but I have great memories. Anyhow, I have waffled a tad, but again, thanks for the welcome.... |
