I just got back a few days ago from the 3rd Annual "Autumn People Gathering", (reference Ray Bradbury) in the cool and tall-pined venue of Prescott, AZ (reference "Courthouse square" from Back to the Future for the architecture/atmosphere of the community there).
It gets better every year. Steve (reference TKG/Witch Hazel) and Bobby (reference Codex V...okay enough of the reference scribing) are such generous facilitators for the weekend. The "giveaways" were above expectations as usual! Great info provided by various formats, thought-provoking interaction, new ideas and creative generation of some useful discussions and some engaging performances and demos. Other unique events were often spontaneous and fun-filled or just amazing, depending on random circumstances (e.g. have you ever heard a pack of wild coyotes return calls back to you from the deep, dark forrest in response to blowing of a 300+ year old clay "Aztec warrior whistle"/artifact? Not to mention a visit from a "baby" tarantula and a cemetary search for the gravesite of Billy the Kid's "doppelganger"!) In addition to time spent at the campsite and campfire (yummm, "hobo dogs" and s' mores over campfire) in the forrest near Lynx Lake, this year we had rooms and time spent at the "haunted" St Michael Hotel, which was also one of the stops on the "Haunted Prescott" Walking Tour. It was an excellent overnight and after hours venue, older, dark wood, creaky and creepy in atmospere, but also serving delicious breakfast meals of value. I am very soon moving out of state, but next year if there is any way I can coordinate my return to AZ for a family visit I will be attending the 2017 APG.
"Pay no attention to that strange man behind the curtain" (it's only "Doc Benjamin from the Amazing Wizardelia Wagon")
