Hi all
I hope it is ok to ask for used books and DVDs. Found no category for used magic stuff. I'm wondering if anybody is selling used books or DVDs about rubber band magic. I bought some tricks from Joe Rindfleisch but I think it would be good to get some Books or DVDs withe the basics too. Have a nice weekend Elrondo

You won't find it until you have 50 legit posts on the site. There are forums for effects, dvds, books, illusions... but there is no access without the minimum posts.
If you are just looking for references on rubber band magic. There are several listed in this forum.

I actually watch the fire sale forum fairly closely and don't see a lot of rubber band stuff come up.
You may find the Harlan DVDs once in a while but not much else. As far as books, Other than Elastrix 1&2 (which aren't reviewed well) I'm not sure there is much in print on "just rubber bands" DVDs, I would recommend Joe Rindfleisch Extreme rubber band magic dvd Dan Harlan Vol 1,2,3. (You can find on sale often at L&L's websites - as a DVD set on the main site or a download on the ePub site) Sean Yang "Rubber Bang" <---awesome and underpriced. Loving Band Redemption (a bit quirky but some really cool stuff on it)

L&L Publishing (and later L&L epub) are probably the largest and most well known makers of magic dvds (and vhs tapes) in the industry. There are several that are catching up but in the last couple decades, they were considered the "go to" people for magic vids.

Never got the rule to that...) you don't take out your smartphone and start googeling. I try to get in touch to other magicians here and built up a nice and friendly relationship. So the only way to do that is having a kind of talk. And communication is like ping pong. So I gave Daddy the chance to respond and it gives me the chance to keep the talk going. If Daddy is disapointed about my question I think he would have told me that I am anoying non-googling-question-asker Btw. I'm using the Café for reference since a long time and just registered last week. I try to use the search function but often the mass of information beats me. So all give me a few more weeks to get used to the written and unwritten rules. Have a nice week El

Elrondo, welcome to the community!
I recommend taking a read through this section, that I believe you got a link to when you registered. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewforum.php?forum=39&7 which has a lot of information for new people, particularly this post: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=39 Which talks about the "For Sale" section you say you missed reading about. You're right that it's often rude to pull out a device, but that's because you're taking attention away from the person/people you're with, and I very much appreciate that sentiment, as most don't follow it. But if asked and agreed upon, looking something up is fine in person. More importantly, this isn't a live conversation - you're already on your phone/computer and the internet, and we don't know if you respond immediately, or take the time to do other work first. But we do know if you tried to find the answer yourself, based on how you reply. Asking questions is great, and most of the posts I've seen of yours have been fine. But to get the best help, it's important to ask things you've tried to look for, yourself, first. There are a lot resources here, and having a conversation about new things is great, but helping someone who didn't try to help themselves first isn't fun. Asking for thoughts on how well two tricks might work together is interesting, asking for reviews on an old trick isn't, as there are probably several threads already. Poof Daddy specifically said "L&L website", which to me suggests it's somewhere online, probably a retailer of some sort. Thus a quick search would be in order to see if you could find it out yourself. If you can't, that's when you mention what you tried, and surprise at not being able to find it yourself. I hope that helps clear it up. There are no hard feelings on my end - I'm just trying to help you learn how to fish. (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/give_a_man_a_fish_and_you_feed_him_for_a_day;_teach_a_man_to_fish_and_you_feed_him_for_a_lifetime) PS "somebody" and "someone" are basically equivalent, and interchangeable. You could also find that answer from an easy internet search. |
