"Imagine if you could offer someone a simple 50:50 guess, such as choosing red or blue, and always anticipate their guess correctly! Imagine being able to do this with such certainty that you'd be happy to stake anything on the outcome, even a very large amount of your own money. Imagine being able to do this totally impromptu, with regard to any 50:50 guess or decision.
The script in this booklet is a way to create a strong illusion that you can do this. The principle is extremely versatile and you can dress it up any way you like." From the Introduction of 50:50 Fantasia. I'm a long time admirer of Ian Rowland (ever since he rendered Richard Madely speechless on UK tv!). His latest release is one of his best. It is a beautifully written e-book detailing an incredibly clever 50/50 bet. If you ever felt 50/50 bets were inherently un-dramatic then this will change your mind. The 35 pages includes full scripting and routining for both stage and informal one-on-one performances. But as Ian says, it is really a principle that could lend itself to infinite variety. When you first read it you may be questioning whether it could actually work, but I have now performed it almost a dozen times in informal situations and it has been very powerful every time. As usual, Ian leaves no stone unturned examining the effect in depth. He has apparently been performing this for years and that road-tested experience is apparent in every word of this e-book. It really is the most fiendish, delightful method. Not really for beginners, but experienced confident performers will love it. |

Anyone who can make Richard Madely speechless is a freakin genius in my book.

It's killer.
Hey pegasus, that sounds like a story I wanna hear! He's a TV guy, right? I loved hearing Drewmcadam talking about watching Ian fool people in the other thread. |

Hi Nathan. I too would be very interested in the effect he performed on Richard. Yes he's a TV presenter.

Urg! I hate this topic got posted. I wanted to keep this under wraps and all to myself.
This is brilliant. I have used it in closeup informal settings and can say with 100% certainty that this is a fooler and will leave everyone who sees it wondering if you're really crazy enough to risk everything on a 50:50. I can't wait to incorporate this into my stage show. I am ABSOLUTELY going to be putting this one into my set. Some things I love about this: the plot is simple and easy to follow, the whole performance beginning to end only takes a couple of minutes, it is truly umbacktrackable, it is 100% clean on all accounts, it makes 50:50 interesting by putting such high stakes on something that genuinely appears impossible to guess. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Everything Ian puts out is gold. I just hate more isn't available from him. His 2016 lecture notes also include some genius ideas that I will be incorporating into my shows as well. The routines are too good to pass up! And they usually very simple and very entertaining. Ian, you are a star! Now... no one else buy this. Seriously, don't do it. |

The normally un-shut-up-able Madeley was reduced to coughing and spluttering in disbelief. I have it on an old VHS somewhere. Along with his appearance on a TV show with Esther Rantzen where he was posing as a genuine psychic, only to be revealed later as a mentalist. |

The only magic I've seen performed on Madely (and his wife) was a brilliant PK Touches routine with a large feather.

I whole-heartedly recommend this. It's amazing just how much you can play up a 50-50 scenario. And the best part? YOU are always right!
