I like the spectator as mindreader plot, and bought this on a whim last night, based on the reviews from Bannon and Elsdon. Here's a review of the three effects:
The first one is essentially a less good version of Paul Vigils Diplopia. There are minor advantages to this method, as no maths is involved, but otherwise it's a backwards step. What's happened here is the author has fallen in love with a Michael Murray principle and applied it to this effect, but in doing so has made the effect worse, and even, essentially, given away the principle to any half-awake spectator. The second effect - the best part of it is the Vernon keycard placement. Otherwise it begins well, and then when the third reveal comes along it all goes west; the approach for the final reveal of the number of the card is entirely out of step with the initial two reveals, and makes no sense. The final effect is poor. Apparently it's killer and fools everyone, magicians included, but I can't imagine how, as it uses a long dealing procedure which virtually every card magician knows. This download has three effects; each of them are other principles and methods hashed together to create three spectator as mind reader effects, the whole in each case not being more than the sum of their parts. Save your money and buy Diplopia. My main regret is I bought a download, and so can't sell it back on. |

I'm a little irritated to be honest, as it was £15 and I expected something better, or at least new. The mashing together of methods is a poor way of constructing an effect.
For example, in one effect the spectator guesses the colour of your card, and you turn over the top card of the deck to show a card of that colour to show they're right. They then guess the suit, and you show they're right in the same manner. This bit is actually quite nice. But then they have to name the value of the card - and the whole procedure changes because clearly the method for the previous two reveals won't work. So suddenly the spectator has to go through the deck to find the card they think you're thinking of in order to show a second spectator (for some reason). Then the card is put back in the deck, for you to then go through the deck and remove the card which you're apparently thinking of - the one the spectator has just taken out and shown. This makes no sense at all. Why, when they've taken the card out that they think is yours, don't you just name it and get them to turn it over? Why don't you follow the approach you used before and finally put your actual card on top of the deck to reveal? Anyway. |

A few days ago, received an email advertising me for this effect. This peaked my interest, so I came there to check out some reviews.
I am so glad you made me save my money, guys Therefore, I sent a email to the "advert" email asking why some of the details have been omitted from the ad... Immediately, Dave Forrest himself replied : "How is it false? Because one guy on the Café didn't like it? Why don't you try thinking for yourself Dorian? Don't bother replying - I don't really have time for sheep. [...] **** him. **** 'The Café'. And, most of all **** YOU - 'Dorian'! You're a ****ing nobody and I've wasted enough time on you already. [...] **** off." I always thought he was a nice and understanding guy, ready to discuss and intereact. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

Was it Dave who replied, or someone who has access to his email account? Hmmm.
